Hi Guys,
We have the 2004 on the dyno (the wrecked one we bought off ebay). It is completely stock, except for prototype S&B air filters and has 1740 miles.
It's only making 400 RWHP and 412 RWTQ. It's very consistent. Is this normal for an SRT? Is it possible that it has the intake valve issue? According to the local dealer, it's due for the cam bolt recall only.
The only good news was I plugged in a VEC2 and picked up a lot of power, with 57 RWHP and 67 RWTQ in the midrange.
Regards,
Sean

I would think 400 is a LITTLE low, and an 04 shouldn't have any valve issues. Any chance the exhaust system got bent and is restricting the flow? No, you guys would have spotted that. How about a damaged sensor? Oxygen, temp, etc? 425 should be minimum IMO.

Just take it to your local dealership and try to get them to fix it under warranty!
Sounds like you could get a factory rebuild on that engine!

Hi Sean.
We had a club Dyno day a couple months ago. We ran the Vipers on a Dynojet dyno.
There was one completely stock 03 Viper that made 394 hp.
My own 04 Viper with K&N filters, Corsa Track Exhaust Exhaust and 3.55 rear gears made 430 hp. and 460 ft. lbs tq. My A/F at WOT was way rich.
None of us were impressed, but then again there were guys there with their Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars that thought their numbers were low. Our correction factor was 1.0. It was a hot humid day.

It sounds like you made some nice gains with the VEC2. How difficult is it to install on the Gen 3? Have you encountered any gen 3's using the VEC2 that have had problems?
Have you made much progress with the Gen 3 Superchargers?

Sean that's strange. Maybe the comp. is in the relearing mode due to being out of commision for so long. Or as I've experianced on so many cars in the past, they just don't run right when they have been sitting around for a long time. You have to clear them out, and of what I don''t know but every car I get that's been down for a while just don't run till I clear it out a few times.

Did ya change out the fuel?

As you know that car is not broke in at all. Mine was a dog when new.

Hi Sean,

Mine made 450 rwhp and 475 rwtq with K & N's and Corsa Track with 3.55's (so add about 10 to 15 for the gears). Temp was about 80 degrees. The guys at West Coast said this was the best they had seen so far in a Gen III, so I'd say something is wrong with your car. Mine also is very rich past 3500 rpm, similar to Brians. Results with the tuning sound very good. Good luck, keep is informed.

Regards,

Dan

Thanks.
Now that I know it's not normal and shouldn't have a valve issue, I'll look into it further. We did 7 dyno pulls total. Nothing in the exhaust or driveline is damaged. It sounds ok, but you can tell it's a little slow to pull. I'll drain the gas, pull the plugs, check compression, etc.

The air / fuel curve with the stock PCM looked identical on this car. I'll post the graphs tomorrow night.

Regards,
Sean

Here is the baseline dyno run (#3 because the first two were so low I couldn't believe it) and the one with the VEC2 program tweaked (#7).

You must be registered for see images

Didn't get a chance to check out the motor today, but did finish another new product on it.

Brian I'm offering the K&N setup for the SRT at $279.00 plus actual shipping charge.

As far as I know there is only one version out, unless they have improved them, and I do believe they did make a modification to the most resent ones. This is a must on the car, as the oem setup is very restrictive.

Let me know if you need this item.

yes I do, it's in very undone state, as it's been more work than I thought it would be. Here is the site add. Also having problems with the speed it opens at.

www.provipermods.com

It's so time consuming laying it out.

We dynoed a completely stock 04 SRT-10 and got 436.9 and 462.2. With an intake and exhaust we got 452.8 and 481.1
