I agree a huge mistake its really a shame someone didn't win it that would have loved to have it. I bet that car will be worth BIG money in 10 or so years

Yeah i agree but they may need to sell it due to a financial situation. they was a significant amount of money owes in taxes. Also they set a reserve on the car so they may have set it real high to get an idea of the cars market price and demand.

Hey new rule ...if you win a raffle you cannot sell it for 2 years :)
They do it with other contest around ... why not VCA raffles...???

Wow, who cares what he does with HIS car?
Ebay is a good start to offer it to the masses around the world and see if he gets a bite or two.
There is a reserve set up, and there will be one at an auction as well.
Either way I wish him good luck with the sale and I hope he makes a lot of money.
The timing is probably off a lot because of market conditions, though hopefully a collector will want it for their collection and pay a lot for it. Only time will tell, hopefully he keeps us posted on the sale.

Nothing wrong with selling it!

Remember, he had to front a $30K tax bill before taking delivery of the car.

The car has a lot of collectable potential. Therefore it belongs in the hands of a collector, not someone like me. I would have sold it for enough to cover taxes, buy another and two sets of spare track wheels.

The owner should have another raffle for it 2,000 tickets at 200 each. They could take some serious money. Then the next winner could do the same. And so on and so on. After 6 billion raffles, the entire world would be rich.

So any guesses on value or what the owner is hoping to get?

While I applaud the "choose your own '09 raffle idea" and will love picking out my own color combo when I win :D, I thought it was more unique to have one-off Vipers for the raffle.

With the value of an ACR approxiamtely $100K+, if you win it in a raffle you have to claim and include the value of the ACR as income (probably under gambling winnings)in your FEDERAL income taxes. Most on here would be in a 25-20% income tax bracket. That means you owe about $30k in Fed taxes. You would then be liable most likely for the same treatment under state income tax laws depending on where you live.

Theres no way he had to pay 30k to get that car! The most he
could of paid is sales tax to get the car and he might be in a
tax bracket where he will indeed owes 30k but that is purely
speculation.

This is a gambling winning tax - not earned income or sales tax.
The Fed takes its mandatory cut (regardless of your income
level,) THEN the state takes it's mandatory cut,
THEN you pay your state sales tax, THEN you pay for tags.

THEN in April the value is added to your earned income and you
pay a higher tax bracket for the year.

On this raffle the VCA took the taxes out at delivery which
means the winner would have likly had to pay at least $30,000
just to pick up the car. Pennies for an ACR yes, but its
unlikly the owner had the cash just sitting in a mattress.

Well, I can tell you that Bonkers is right on the money; The winner of the ACR may have got a break on the value or "taxable amount" because it was treated as a used car as it had miles on it; I can tell you that my taxable amout for both state and federal income tax purposes was approx. sticker value.:dunno:

Unbelievable we let our government get away with all that.

I said he owed $30k before he accepting delivery, and if you read the fine print in the recent raffle entry form, anyone who wins the next raffle will have to do likewise (SOP). Certainly around half price is nice for a new Viper (as Bonkers noted, you still have to pay state income tax, sales tax, etc.) but not exactly "free."

It works the same with items won on TV gameshows, which is why on shows like "The Price is Right," people often decline the prizes!

I'd gladly pay up to $50k for a $100k car and something so special as the first of any Viper model....heck I'd like to pay 50 cents or less on everything I buy!!

Sadly, I won't be bidding on this one.....I want a Black version!

Regards,
Aaron

I am sure that thing will sell for 100k plus. That will truly be a collectible. Anyone that gets that car is very lucky. I wish I had the funds I would BIN it if I did. That thing sure is one awesome snake. Good luck to all bidding on it.
