The car was one of five early pre-production cars assembled - 2 green, 2 purple, and 1 black. We'll likely get a shot of one of the purple ones soon. :2tu:
Verified: No purple cars or production parts have been built yet. Venom Red, Snakeskin Green, and GTS Blue. They will be building additional pilot cars for the SRT Experience in the next few weeks - also in Venom Red, Snakeskin Green, and GTS Blue. No other colors have been produced other than a couple early engineering pilots in red & black (remember those "spy shots" of the hood that were floating around on the Net?).

I am VERY eager to see Viper Violet on the actual car but it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer! :(

I wonder if all these people who like it would actually buy one in that color (doubt it).

To each their own though and if someone wants to spend their own $ on a car in that color more power to you. But I still say "YUCK!".

I agree.

Of course, my '69 Corvette convertible was originally green and I made it white, then black 100,000 miles later and my '68 Impala convertible was originally green and I changed it to red, so I have NEVER been a fan of ANY green (OK, maybe nitro lime green on a Hemi 'Cuda convertible).

I personally did not like the H spoke wheels when they were first introduced at the Geneva Auto Show. Since then we have had a bunch come in , and obviously now that folks have seen them, they seem to have garnered a following. Even though they will be an extra cost option wheel, they are neck and neck on orders, close to the stock ( for 2008 ) 5 spoke rim.

The razor, on the other hand, has virtually no orders, but then........................

Respectfully submitted, and I don't want to throw a wet towel on the fire here, but the hood is not a favorite to me. It does not have clean lines. Way too busy. I am in agreement with the wheels. I would not personally choose this color, but that is a more personal choice.

The Viper is great because it has rounded arcs, but is uncluttered. This hood detracts from the overall clean lines. Sort of a cheap way out to make a styling difference if you ask me. Sort of the old, Firebird - Formula type deal. Firebird had the clean lines. Formula had the "power bump".

I wait to see what the difference is between the previous design and the new one in order to justify the purchase.

Patentlaw,

I actually agreed with you on the hood, until I saw it in person. You might change your mind when you see an 08 in the flesh, as the hood looks very nice with the car, and flows much better than some pictures show.

Not trying to change your mind, just saying you might keep an open one, as I was pretty disappointed by many of the pictures till I saw the real McCoy.

Ahh, why didn't you just say that you were an SRT-hater in the first place? Then we wouldn't have to worry as much. Too bad you weren't here in 2003, because then you would have had a lot more company. Four years later and a lot of those same diehard Gen I/II owners that dissed the Gen III are driving one. :D Sorry, don't appreciate the Vette comment coming from a fellow Viper owner.

Oh yeah, and the emblem is black (the only "blue" you see is on the chrome part - reflecting a blue sky) and the brake calipers have been red on every single SRT-10 produced since 2004. Color-matching calipers as a mod? Kinda cool. But on a factory car with eight different color options? Umm, no.

I like the new hood. I think the large vents go well with the aggressive styling of the sides of the Viper. And the new hood serves a purpose--it's necessary to accomodate the new airbox, and is supposed to help with cooling. I think it's more a matter of form following function than just a styling exercise. With 600 horsepower, Dodge will sell all the 08 cars with no problem even if the hood was unchanged. I don't think there will be any 08 owners hoping an after market hood will come available with the 2003-06 look.

Not a mod, just a no-brainer, because we all know it is possible;umm yes!Pic of emblem just looks blue as you can see,so wasn't sure!

i was driving down woodward about 4 days ago and saw it. I thought it was an 06, I didn't get a good look at the hood and thought the color was customed. I honestly didn't really like the color. Obviously im going 50 the other direction but it really didn't stand out to me. but just mho.

Bill,

Thanks for the opinion. I will do so. Sometimes car pictures can be hiding the real beauty of the car. Your opinion makes more sense until I actually see one in person.

Agree!

Quite often when I first see pictures of a new vehicle or pictures of a mid-cycle update, my initial reaction is totally negative.

However, once I see the new car in the flesh (or metal to be more exact) I am very inclined to favorably revise my opinion.

What happens next is if I was pre-disposed to change my opinion from negative to positive, the design will grow on me the more often I see the real thing as opposed to pictures, which never seem to grow on me if I did not like it the first time.

PatentLaw, have you checked out Jeff Lemke's hood design?

If they are doing a couple of "pilot cars" ...how about some different angles of the green one and where are the other two color cars in the current series...venom red and the GTS blue.

I REALLY like that color. WOW! I dont care much for the H wheels, but that green is sweet! BTW, I think it looks better with these wheels and lowered. ;)
