?????....much more GenIII have broken into the 11's then GenIV's in the 10's..
Traction is really limiting the Gen4 as the best time ever run stock (stock tires )is Jamies (Furmans )11.0 at near 130.Smith( not pushing mine that hard) ran 11.3 at 129.8.Both of the above drivers felt in cold weather(above runs conducted in 75 degree heat ) if the track was prepped the car will go 10s.The trap speed difference between the Gen 4 and Gen 3 really shows the power difference.A Gen 3 in 75 degree weather MIGHT trap 121 while a Gen 4 traps almost 130 mph.

get the 08 there going for just alittle more than a 06,better handeling,it is faster in every way from a 06,the 06 felt stronger at take off but at 5000 rpms it felt it had nothing more ,now the 08 keeps going strong.08 is the best viper ever made and i have had all generations.
I Agree. I traded my 06 for my 08 SSG and the 08 is the best Viper ever.

I have an '04 and an '08. I really like the power delivery of the '04. Very linear and smooth - pulls hard everywhere. The '08 easily feels stronger on top and just a slight bit softer down low. It actually makes the car feel faster as the rush comes on - and it really comes!

Of the 2 powerplants I like the characteristics of the '04 more, but not in a minute would I trade it for the more power of the '08. Get the '08. You can modify it too if you feel the need.

The 08 (Gen 4) is a wolf in sheeps clothing IMO. There are no reliable f/i mods due to the complex Venom controller, but there are geniuses in the cut working on this. Give the 08 a little more torque by improving breathing (headers and exhaust) and your bottem end problem is cured. I am told that the Belangers and exhaust give this car like 75 more hp. A 675 hp Gen 4 will dust ANY SPORTS CAR UNDER $400,000 IN ANY RACE ON ANY COURSE. NUFF SAID.
