Speed is being so gracious enough to break away from Nascar programming to give us 14 hours of live programming, instead of the usual 24 that speedvision gave us. Though I hear speed will only show the left turns for the whole race and break to computer animated commentary on how a turbo engine works incase a nascar fan happens to be watching. Can you tell I'm pissed about it?

Craig, Thanks for the SPEED CHANNEL schedule update. A few weeks ago it was 2 hours one at the start and finish. I sent them an e-mail expressing my disappointment with their reduced Le Mans coverage.

If you want to see more of Le Mans send them an e-mail expressing your feelings.

LMP Audi's were rock solid, fast lap times, quick pit stops, lack of mechanical (flat tires were a problem for several car in the early part of the race) problems. Finished 1,2,3.
LMP GTS Bently powered by Audi and engineered by Audi came in 4th. ran like the Ausi's but slower.

5th and 6th ORECA Playstation ran a great race, ahead of GM's two LMP Caddy's.

GTS Vetts 1 and 2, ORECA Playstation Viper was 3rd.

I just picked up a Playstation 2. Was considering the X-Box but had to go with Playstation 2, because of their support of ORECA!

I do not understand how DC can watch the Le Mans and the ALMS be dominated by AUDI(LMP) and GM(GTS). In 97 the Mercedes V12 was great in 98 the move to V8 resulted in both Le Mans entries out of the race very early with engine failures. In 99 Mercedes wanted to fly and that they did.

They did not come back to Le Mans. My guess is that the flying Mercedes reminded them of 1955, the worst Le Mans accident in history. Better to fix the air flow problem and give the Audi's more competition.

I would love to see Mercedes and Chrysler get serious about sports car racing. I still find NASCAR boring except for their road course races.

I vote for ORECA to run the DC racing program!

Just my opinion!

UK VCA just returned home from Le Mans (we all stayed in French Chateau's last night before the drive back to the UK)! Excellent time at Le Man, fabulous fast drive back...full post and many photos to follow...but for now: 3rd in GTS class and 14th overall of the finishers, the highest placed Viper, #52 in action during the 24 hours.

What I would like to know is if the vett racing program is soooo much better now, why are the Vipers still required to run with restrictors, extra weight, and so on and so on...
Maybe the Vipers should run on three wheels, now that will REALLY improve the vetts!!

GTzViper,

How do you know the Vipers have to run with restrictors, extra weight, etc? Is there someplace on the web that documents this?

Thanks,

Gozer

The Playstation ORECA Viper did very well considering 2 LM drivers were also rookies. I am sure Beretta and company would have pushed the vette's to failure and or out drive them. The Viper had a starter motor failure (hard to repair) which is rare for the Viper. Sure would be nice to see them race in the ALMS series.

Nadine, thanks for the picture.
