Its good only if you keep the viper stock or use slicks. On street tires when you add real power ie.. nos, turbo or blower you will wish you never switched it. Way to much wheel spin.

They make a 3.33 setup for cars that are adding power. This may be what you want. I will be using 3.55's because I've upped my rear tire diameter 1.3 inches, and the 3.55 will put me back to around a 3.33 or so. Not to mention I have much more traction than before. If I would not have done the tires I'd go with the 3.33

I have 3.55's on my 800 plus horse DLM car and will say, they are really fun. If you can pedal the car (modulate the throttle), you'll love them regardless of power level.

Just put them in. I, too have them. No comparison. And yes, you may have to "pedal" the car. But no comparison to 3.07's. You can add power and you'll still enjoy them. Unitrax does an excellent job of setting them up. Good luck.

Remember that these SRTs have 19" rear rims. This oversized tire makes a 3.55 feel more like a 3.33 gear. The SRT loves these gears. Top speed in fourth is something like 135mph with the 19s. Skip understands this.
I plan on putting them in my GTS, and if I add power, I can always go to the bigger 19" wheels to drop the ratio down a bit.

Changing to 3.55's really wakes up the car. Makes the SRT-10 MUCH more enjoyable to drive. This is one must have mod.

Thanks guy I guess he is going with the 3.55.

One thing I drove the SRT-10 last night and let me tell you IT’S A VIPER, no matter what you hear, my self heard a lot but last night it was one awesome ride, bright dash lights, seats, head room (6`2), I really loved the way the hood looked from inside the car,And the sharp edges really amazed me, is it me or this car handles better than the gts ? ill try and video the car and take some pictures. For you Srt-10 owners (srt-10 worth every penny.)

Is the 1295.00 switch to 3.55 that amazing? I want to do the same but just was not sure what I would feel or notice. From what I hear it sounds as if it makes a huge difference. I am contemplating going to West Coast Vipers and having it done.

djemcee, just do this mod…you'll be ecstatic that you did. You should be able to shop around and get this done for around $1000 parts and labor give or take a hun. Also, don’t forget to stipulate the HD gear set when ordering (if memory serves me it is Dana part #707381-3X for HD 3.55’s). No need to settle for straight cut gears that are typically used in a Wrangler application no matter how many times the gears have been cryogenically treated [frozen] for strength—they’re not the same. Your new gears should appear the very same as factory (angle/twisted vs. straight cut) except for gear teeth count of course. Oh…and as for $150 polishing, it really amounts to saving you from doing a ~ 300 mile break-in on the gear set and that's about it – it’s your choice if that's of real significance. Keep in mind, the factory doesn’t seem feel it is necessary. Good luck to you.

Hey dje, where do you live?

Nice initials. Go to West Coast. Good guys that do good work if you are near them (Temecula). Make sure and get the new hardened pin and polished, cryo'd gears. John or Jason will steer you in the right direction. If you're in north Orange County or south LA County, Unitrax in Anaheim is hard to beat, they did mine, see Devon. Price with all hardware should be about $1050.00 (I got the larger bolts and had them wired in too plus the above). 2000 miles and no issues.

You will have to learn to shift sooner and it will happen very fast.

I love my 3.55's. Good luck.

The warranty on the complete diff. would probably be voided. Even the hydro lock unit may not be covered, I would think. As for the rest of the car, as they say if the mod. did not have anything to do with the problem, they are to honor the warrenty.

Mitsubishi, will void the complete warranty on a car if it's modded. They simply take advantage of the teens ignorance, and the parents that spawned them. They are a cruel bunch.

Make sure your Dodge service dept. is Viper freindly, some are not, and I would never want them making notes in the car's history file, as Mitsubishi doe's. If the diff. does fail, it will give you all the more reason to go with a Quaiffe setup or a Detroit Tru Track. You won't tear them up, and they would cost less than the oem.
