Several people awhile back on another thread mentioned they had the clear bra installed.

Are they still satisifed and glad they had it done?

Is there anything I can learn from your experience that might help me?

I found a guy in Boca Raton, Florida named Pepi from Autosupershield, he's suppose to be the best installer in the area, any feedback on your experiences with him would be helpful.

Thanks for helping.

I should have done it right away. I waited 2 months and had about a dozen mini chips all over the front (CA freeways are bad for your viper :( ) I had it installed and now have no more chips. DO it. It should be the first mods.

Go to the gallery and expand my SRT photo to full size. If you really look you can see some clearbra lines around the lower center of the grill. My car has the full treatment...front, lower portion of hood, mirrors, behind the tires, side sills, and my installer threw in the yellow fog light material. Very happy with the product, but I have noticed a few things. Those yellow things that land on cars(what is that stuff?) do not clean up well on the clearbra material, even using bug & tar remover. Hopefully, I'll find a solution to this soon. Even after a return trip to remove a few bubbles, etc., there are still a few micro-sized bubbles/imperfections. They are all on the underside, so not ordinarily visible, I only see them when the car is up on the lift. 5-year guarantee against yellowing or peeling, I recommend it.

I've had 5 cars with clearbra and the first time I noticed the yellow mark you talk about was this week. And, it doesn't come off. I thought it was underneath the material, but you are probably correct. Maybe waxing before driving would stop it.

What IS that yellow stuff???? I'm not sure if it's bird crap or what, but it gets ALL over my car, and it actually stains the silver paint and the clear bra! Super annoying!

Ted:

What was the total cost of materials and installation on your 3M application?

Thanks.

I paid $400 to have the clear bra installed, and the windows tinted. I have it on the nose, hood, mirrors, fenders, rocker panels, and side sills. That's very cheap, but I know people that know people. ;)

Crockett:

Just read this at a forum:

"Llumar is a new product, where as the 3M film has been out for a while. 3M is suppose to come out with a new film that will compete with the Llumar film.

3M has been the king for a while in that it is tough and has a clear coating that makes the film shiny, and also protects the film from absorbing dirt and grime; its main downsides are (1) its tendency of turning yellow (bad on light color cars), (2) harder to stretch/install due to the clear coating, and (3) not as transparent as some others (has a bit of orange peel look).

The new Llumar is suppose to be much more transparent. Ostensibly, given its short-time in the market, longevity and protection characteristics are not yet proven. Nonetheless, I've heard very good things about the new Llumar film."

Man, that is cheap. My coverage is front, lower 1/4 of hood, mirrors, fogs, full-length side sills including the horizontal surfaces(sill plates), behind rear tires, and the rim(lip) around the front tires. Total came to $1,200 with full 5-year warranty against peeling or yellowing. I suppose the yellowing for the fogs is moot. I'm glad I did it, now I just have to wait a little longer before doing any more mods. On my white cars, the yellow stuff stains, but after a week or so, with exposure to sun, etc., it goes away. I might leave the SRT out for a day to see if that cures the problem, but it seems like its really imbedded into the 3M film. I'd sure appreciate anyone with the solution to chime in.

Alice, they actually used a new film that does not have the clear coat. He told me it was much more optically pure, so the clear coat was not needed. Maybe I did get Llumar. The yellowing that we're talking about is from some mysterious substance that falls from the sky. lol It's like little spatters of yellow paint almost. When you wipe it off, it leaves the paint, and or clear mask stained.

I paid $850 to have mine installed. It was the deluxe package with it going about 24" into the hood, the whole front fascia, the mirrors. That's it, but everything in N. CA is expensive. Damn!

The yellow things falling from the skies....canaries?

I did several Google searches for Clear and Bra and Atlanta

They keep sending me to a pet store (I guess) called Cheetah III Lounge.

So I am heading down there right now.

Great mod. I should have done it before I drove my SRT-10. 3M makes an Aerospace film that is quite a bit better on the hood and mirror backs for black cars - like my SRT-10. It looks great on my red GTS as well. The aerospace stuff is darn near invisible even under flourescent lights. The clear bra is OK for the fascia / sills and about 25% less $ than the aerospace version.

Plan on about $1200 (CA prices) for the above set up per car, installed, including the headlights, paint touch up an polishing prior to installing the clear stuff.

Good luck.

Pollen or something from a tree, maybe? I parked my car under a tree, when I came back, it was covered with yellow gunk. The tree had these yellow flower-like things (long tube-like flowers covered with a yellow dust.) They were all around, and the car was spattered with yellow stuff, kind of like paint.

The yellow stains in Florida are caused by the royal palm trees and on white a nuissance. I have used Standox rubbing compound. This is the Company which provides paint for all Mercedes and Porches. It is a German product and the rep can be reached at 800-551-9296. I have used it over Amorall film with excellent results.
