96gts oil lite problem/please help

i was riding in the gts and the oil light came on.i took to the shop and changed the oil.the car was reading full at 6 quarts .i drove the car home about 2 miles into the trip the oil light came on.with my last oil change it took 8 quarts.i stopped and put a half a quart in.then the light came on again. what gives ?any thoughts

Yikes........! Now THAT'S an oil starvation problem!

Your car takes 8.2 gts.....a bit more if you get the cooler to drain. After you filled 8 qtes, is the light out?

Remember: On the dipstick, ADD is 2 Qts away from FULL !

filled with 8 quarts and found the fuel switch on block was leaking and was caked with oil.im going to put a new switch on monday and see if this is the case.
