Ok I have found a dealer that has a 98 GTS with 27k miles, great condition, 50% tread tire, for 36k. It is a red viper. It sounds like a very good deal to me.

1. Should I pay a few grand more (maybe 5k) for a similar stock car with HALF the miles to help in resale or are miles not really an issue with depreciation anymore?
2. I am flying out tomorrow to look at the car. If it looks good, is 36k a good deal to pull the trigger?

There are is no window sticker or any of those small intangibles but it has recently been serviced at the dealership and the car has no known issues.

I'd check carfax and just give the car a real good going over.

Price sounds great. Those miles don't sound bad at all for the price.

Take some pics. Good luck!!:2tu:

Resale ? Are you selling the car already ? :dunno: It looks like a good price. If it looks good to you buy it and drive it.:drive:

Explaining Viper things to you

Half the miles is still 14K miles. Which according to the International Association Of Garage Queens, is not eligible for being called a Garage Queen. And therefore would not be worth anything more as an investment.

But the one at $36K and spend the other $5K on mods.

good call. I think I may opt for that option. I am going to maul this over for a few hours and make a decision. I am not in an extreme hurry with the purchase just as long as it is by the time the Woodward Dream cruise hits:) I am in MI so that is important!

if it checks out buy it !!!!!!! 36K for one of these cars is great ! I am not refering to market value but the grin factor, although you would think alot of the depreciation has already gone from car. That car will be as much fun as a car with 5000 miles and maybe even more as you wont worry about the mileage or the first chip.

I would'nt worry to much about tread life. Most likely as little as most of these cars get driven, the tires are probably like "rocks" anyway. Most likely you'll need a new set regardless of "tread life"

sounds like a great deal tho, jump on it, if its clean and no wrecks:omg:

Sounds good to me. If they are asking 36 im sure they will move a little. You must be serious if you are flying there.
