With 3.54 rear gears, best I've gotten has been around 17-18. Still better than the last two SUVs I owned!

Gen 1 tanks are 22 gallons, and from NY to Detroit at 80-85 MPH, I averaged 24 mpg. Range of over 500 miles, better than my Dakota or Intrepid.

Hey Tom,
my 96 RT/10 had the 19 gallon tank, but it was a hybrid :D

Have a 99 but it should be the same, although I have no fantasy mpg numbers for you.

9-10 city
9-12 highway

Anyone that can get 22mpg in a Viper should be driving a Hybrid civic.

3:45 rear end at 75-80 in 6th gear...all freeway....Just over 21 MPG. The stock rear end was about 2 higher. Around town and all 2 lane roads, the mileage dropped by 3-4 MPG from the 3:07 gears. After all one must exercise the beast properly!

Let's see... using Steve's info about 3-4 MPG for the rear end switch, and Russ' info about only 9-12 MPG highway, it must be that Russ either has a 6.14 rear gear or never uses more than second gear... ;)

Which puts me right around 12 MPG in town. This past May, I got 8 MPG at Gingerman at WOT and high RPMS for about 80 miles.

9-12 MPG on the highway would immediately equate to jail time for me. ;)

I went from Central NJ to Boston MA (275 - 300 Miles) on a full tank and arrived with a little over a 1/4 left. I drove in 6th gear at 70 - 75 MPH the whole way. It was nice to see how fuel efficent the car can acutally be ;) .

I never get such low gas mileage numbers (except when racing of course).

I normally average about 16MPG in mixed in-town and freeway driving.
My best mileage is 26MPG twice on longer drives (to the racetrack) with my stock 3.07 gears.
And I've gotten 23 and 24MPG on my last two trips to the track after installing 3.55 gears, running between 70-90MPH with the A/C on all the way.

Re: 98\' RT\\10 what are the miles per tank for High Way driving?

I get ~20MPG on most long highway drives (gotten 22.8 max), which usually are 80-90MPH drives, with downshifts from 6th to 5th and 4th for quick passing bursts and runs to 120MPH+ when the opportunity presents itself.

Gen 1 tank - 22gal
Gen 1.5 tank - 19gal
Gen 2 tank - 18gal
