In the North Texas region we're planning a big "tech session" meeting at Preston Dodge, on the 25th of August. Our major presenter will be Roy Terpstra of TNT.
Today, I had my first LONG talk with Roy since the Houston flood that nearly put them out of business, permanently. Talk about being a determined survivor! Some of you may be aware that he has some health issues going on, but those are private and I'm not going to say anything more. What I DO think everyone should be aware of though...... is his past and current business situation.
Basically, TNT did lose almost everything in that major flood. By the time they took care of the "customer" cars, and got them to safe ground, the last trip back proved too late to rescue their OWN cars and equipment. The water was already almost 5' high, and even the computers were a total loss. Roy admits he's not a computer kind of guy, and he rarely visits this sight. But, most all customer and business records were lost and that WAS devastating.
They have cleaned up and re-built, and the estimate is that they are back to about 95%..... EXCEPT for the phone service. They still have no phones, and the re-routed message system has proved to be unreliable. Until this can be corrected by the phone company, Roy has suggested that anyone who wants to get in touch with TNT please use their e-mail, [email protected]. He profoundly apologizes for any delays in either completion of cars or communication this may have caused.
Speaking personally, I think it should be noted that through all of this trauma and tragedy, I've not seen any disparaging remarks about TNT and their service on this board. That means to me that he is trying to do his best to "fix" everything that needs fixing...... and getting it done!
So..... just because you haven't heard a lot of hype about TNT lately, doesn't mean they're not as good as ever at making Vipers quick and reliable. Roy did not ask me to make this post, nor suggest anything I should, or should not say. I'm really looking forward to seeing him and his NEW personal car at our upcoming August event. Roy, give it all you got! I think you deserve some kudos for getting through all this, and our region will be there in force to welcome you back!
