? about \"squared\" oval exhaust tips

Who makes the oval tips (almost rectangular) tips on a cat-back?
I thought it was B&B but when I called them and asked about the same style tip that they offer on their Vette systems, they said it was not available, only 4" round on the Viper system.
I KNOW I saw this tip option somewhere, or on a Viper somewhere!
Anyone know where I saw it? Pics, vendor?
Thanks

Re: ? about

Thanks guys! Those be the ones!

Crapola! Now there's another player in the mix. I really like those tips, but never hear anyone talking about the SnakeOul cat-back system on threads about exhaust systems! Only B&B, Corsa, and Borla.

Does SnakeOyl have one of the above big three make this system for them?

What does it sound like in comparison with the above 3?

I wish B&B would just make that tip option available, they already have it for the Vette cat-back :-(

Re: ? about

B&B apparently changed their tips. I got my setup last summer and it came with the rectangular/oval type tips you're talking about. Sometime since then they came out with the round ones. I thought they had both, and wasn't aware they didn't offer the other ones anymore.

Oh, now and then somebody hollers SnakeOyl. You can always do a search to find relevant threads. Here's a recent one where somebody suggests that very system.

RED Thanks!
Maybe another phone call to B&B, if they can't make it for a few extra $, maybe there's a vendor with some old stock laying around.

Give Mark Fowler at B&B a call 623-581-7600. They don't use these tips on the Viper Cat-Back but you should be able to buy them separately.

btw - Nadine also has them - to go with her B&B Stainless Tri-Y headers and had the photos on photopoint before it melted down and "lost" poeple's photos. Not sure, but I think she told me she purchased the B&B stuff through Mike Adams.

(Who remembers Bob Ziino? He was about the first to have these tips in '97)

Daffy, now and then? lol I'm always giving suggestions for Snake-Oyl. Especially for their exhaust. The reason why is that I'm not a Viper owner, but have bought Viper products. Their customer service is second to none. I've recieved gifts for Christmas and such from a MD Viper owner. So he can attest as well. When the box of the 1:18 Daytona Viper GTS-R/T was smashed in and broke the mirror, they sent him a free one, and let him keep the damaged one.

Joe, there's a region-local VCA member that has the Snake-Oyl cat back exhaust! Lee from Severna Park, MD; he has the '00 Black with Silver stripes GTS. Ask him to start up his car for you at the next meet you go to, he may even take you for a ride if you let him. Lee's pretty good at getting to all of them. He'll be going to the Crab Feast for sure. I've ridden with him many times and driven his GTS twice, as I know him personally. His exhaust is the best mild sounding exhaust I've heard for Vipers (including Corsa's 3"). It has a nice tone, volume, and burble. With K&Ns and smooth tubes, that exhaust helps to produce 500 HP.

"Now and then" / "here and there" - just figures of speech. LOL They can mean anything from little to moderate. But they always mean more than none. *chuckle* Just be happy I mentioned them at all, and even included a link where YOU mentioned them. ;) I did more than I was required to do! :p And I'll do it again...if you behave, you. Heh-heh! :D

I'll have to send you that sound clip. It's a very funny prank call!

I know you were just jokingly exagerrating the "now and then." I wrote "I always vouch for S-O..." for everyone else that doesn't know. I honestly don't know many other people on this board that vouches for them (doesn't mean they don't like S-O). I know Lee and Ron Hickey had their S-O exhausts put on at Woodhouse when Dodge delivered the Vipers there. Ron switched to Corsa's 3" last summer when I rode with him to the Crab Feast(that's where I'm able to get the interior sound comparison of those 2 systems).

Re: ? about

P.S. here's some excerpt by me from other exhaust threads with their links below.

Since no one has mentioned this exhaust, I'll put it in here. I have ridden in (about 20 times), driven (twice) and heard 3 dyno pulls of a 2000 GTS with Snake-Oyl's cat back exhaust. I'd say that this is the closest to a SVT Cobra's (non supercharged) V8. It has more burble at idle, downshifts, and letting off the gas, and is a tad louder than a Stang's. I'd say this is the best setup for a mild sound (unlike Belanger wild sounding headers and exhaust, which is also great exhaust). This is the exhaust, IMO, that Dodge should have made for the Viper if they could. It just puts the Viper's sound in with the classics. This exhaust with K&N drop ins and smooth tubes will put you at or around 500 HP.

If you don't want to go "full" exhaust (headers, etc), I recommend Snake-Oyl cat-back exhaust. I think they're 2 1/4" pipes. They make the Viper sound like a classic V8. Lee had his put on at Woodhouse when bought new (I think at Bill P's recommendation). Has a nice idle, burbles at the release of the gas, and throaty at WOT.

ViperJoe is right, you should go to a VCA meet and listen to the exhaust notes. I'm sure owners wouldn't mind starting them up and drive-by or take you for a short ride. I think the best way to hear the exhaust is at a dyno day. You're right there when the car is idling, starting up at part throttle, you hear it on the release of the gas, and at WOT.

Joe, take your own advice! ;)
