Hey guys I have a 2006 viper went to fill up at a local She'll gas station. I hit the 93 octane button and start fueling. Didn't really notice until looked at the price and saw $1.95.. Well the premium was at 2.40. So I stopped fueling and there was about 3 Gallons of 87 that pump into the car. I tried it again and after you select 93 itll go straight to 87..
I drove around town for about 30 minutes trying to burn this fuel, just cruise in 3rd gear under 3k rpm, no hard accelerating. Will this harm My motor??!

If you don't hear any knock you won't hurt anything. I've had to put 89 in mine before because it was the best the station had and I didn't have enough left to get anywhere else. I just grabbed a bottle or two of octane booster and took it easy. If you top it off with 93 it should dilute it enough to be fine I'd think.

Octane rating is a measure of resistance to detonation. As long as you don't drive enthusiastically and take it easy you're fine .

Knock sensors were added in 2005 so you'll be fine. Only 91 here in AZ and I only add octane booster when doing track events.

Reminds me of an excuse to use if pulled over for speeding ..... Really Officer, I was trying to burn up some bad gas!

southern hospitality
Showing graciousness, kindness, and warmth to others. Behavior that is altruistic.

Southern Hospitality is a family, or individual helping another, just because its the right thing to do. People call it Southern Hospitality because people from the South are known to be nice folks.

My point was the treatment that the OP received to a simple question.
Did Viperman4125' s response need to be so sarcastic?
I'm sorry if I offended you, I should have asked if this was Midsouth Hospitality!

No worries on burning off a little low octane fuel. Most cars are designed to reduce ignition advance if they detect lower than optimum fuel.

Best thing you can do is go to another gas station and top it off with the highest octane available.

Vipers are sturdy beasts : >)

Sounds like some people need some Southern Comfort, not southern hospitality.
WG4L, you're car will be fine. Take it slow and easy until the gas burns off, then put some '93 in it, kick the tires and light the fires!

Back to the Q: Fill it up 93, or add octane boost- The car will be fine. ( don't know if Sam will )

Did you document this supposed "malfunction"? Without the proper documentation it's safe to say it was human error....which is ok to admit.
