Apologies if a repost, but the Jan/Feb issue of Modified Luxury and Exotics has a nice track challenge between the ACR and modified Z06.

Long story short, the ACR takes the fastest lap time by 2 seconds.

It's no surprise that the ACR Viper is quicker around a race track.

The Katech Z06 does look like a nice package, but it's price starts about the same as the ACR Viper, and goes up from there depending on options. And ultimately it does look like a modified Corvette, as opposed to the ACR which is unmistakably unique with wild styling that matches it's performance. :D

I'm still waiting for an ACR/ZR-1 showdown, why hasnt it happened yet? They are both running away from the competition and usually it's the first to happen.

............and the ACR would get owned by a comp coupe, which would get demolished by an Oreca GTS from the late 90's. I guess it is all relative.

The article doesn't even list the finished weight. Since they're going with stock ACR style wheels and brakes ("for better stopping") and it seems that it's barely a 100# lighter with only CF intake and exhaust mods to engine, I'd guess it's ZR1 cost ($109,000 base) and about 75hp less. You have to like that they threw away the electronic susp. and went with the Motons. CF Splitter and wing included - lift the wing and it'll look closer to an ACR, won't keep up, but it'll look better.

it would be nice to see a head to head between the ACR and ZR-1. Of course we already know what the outcome would be but at least then the vette fans couldnt whine about weather conditions.

Yeah the outcome would be the ZR1 being declared the winner regardless of if the ACR beats it on the roadcourse. They will probably structure testing parameters to favor the ZR1. All I hope for is that they use someone like Heinricy in the ZR1 and Archer in the ACR and have an unbiased result. Would end all discussion on both sides.

As for the Clubsport Z06? Great car and it sound beautiful but 109k??? Im used to ACR beating cars by 4+ seconds lol so for it to lose by 2 seconds says its a badazz Vette. Gotta love that under 3k lb weight. Given equal power it will be a dog fight. Even if it did beat the ACR its a TUNER Vette vs a factory car. Fair would be a TUNER ACR vs a TUNER Clubsport:lmao:j/k

I like em both. I cant help but wonder if the Clubsport would beat the ZR1.

Glad you found my speculation funny:). The Clubsport comes in under 3000k lbs and can be had with more than 535hp. Im willing to bet the ZR1 would have serious problems with a Clubsport on a roadcourse. This is no putdown on a ZR1 but the Clubsport sounds like a more serious track car in the vein of the ACR minus the those levels of downforce. No heatsoak to worry about and the right upgrades to suspension/tires/weight. I may be wrong but I think its a reasonable conclusion. Hope Ive further amused you:smirk:

That corvette hood is horrible looking. Also seeing these cars side by side in these pictures reminds me how much Chevy copied the Viper's styling.

For comparison, here is a video of A katech Z06 destroying everything from Porsche CGT to Ferraris'. I mean this driver is amazing as is the car. So if this is a true example of what the Katech Z06 can do and the ACR is faster then...the ACR is even more amazing in my eyes after watching this.

Nice vids but Katech has all sorts of levels to a Vette. No way of knowing what package was on this particular one...The CGT let him by...

Thats why I had capitalized the "A" because not sure what level of mods that one had. Well driven, would love to see more viper vids out there like this, especially of the new ACR, because the one at the RING was nice to watch and I am sure he could have did a 7.21 or 7.20.

Speaking of the Viper...we need to enter a 1500rwhp TT into this event next year...talk about kicking everyones ass. The most powerful car was "only" 1020hp....geez.

Modified Luxury & Exotics

Thanks Sims.

The 08 ACR is and will be a bad ass.

The problem after 1000hp is traction. I watched 2 competitions where Hennessey's 1500rwhp Viper spun out when the boost went a little to high and cause the tires to break loose and he spun out. lost control and slid off the course. He had too much hp. Porsche wiht only 1000rwho won the event. TWICE.

It should be evident to intelligent car guys that stock TTs can't keep up to a n/a Viper then a Forced Induction Viper will annihilate everything.

Nice read....wonder how many miles it took them to reach the 242mph in that 1020hp Audi? We got Supras hiting that in just a mile over here lol...Im sure if someone can figure out how to plant those 1500 ********** horses and monster torque to the ground safely, the Viper would take a dump on the competition.

Well, I think this goes to show the importance of aerodynamics. The 'vette had a better power/weight ratio and probably a better power/drag ratio as well. A 2,915 lb 'vette on wide tires is going to achieve some serious mechanical grip.

In addition to being cheaper, the ACR seems to have more time left on the table. Put those Ferodo pads and brake ducts from the Clubsport on the ACR, and I'd bet that braking disparity would disappear. Toss exhaust on the ACR, and it'll only get worse. In the end, 'vettes still have a huge advantage in the power department because of the availability of tuning software and cams, though.

I'm curious as to how C&D achieved a faster lap time with a base ZR1 than the Clubsport (which they had as only being 1.5 seconds quicker than a base Z06 - tires alone should have achieved that!). The ZR1's tires are probably better than PSCs under normal conditions, but I doubt they are better after multiple laps. The only thing I can think of is that Katech doesn't advertise with C&D.
