Whenever the rear tires break loose under hard acceleration, and I begin to get wheel hop. I get a loud clunking/banging noise from the rear of the car. This has done this since new. Now with 2000 miles the noise clunking/banging seems to be louder/heavier. What is causing the noise. Is it from the shocks, or something hitting on the half shafts. Is this normal for an ACR due to the stiff springs? Has anyone else experienced this?:dunno: My GTS has never done this. Any thoughts?

May want to also ask Herb this directly at the Grail Trail.

Don't think it is just an ACR issue as I experience severe wheel hop also under hard acceleration. Would also like some info on taming it.

Some of the cars have sway bar end links that are a little loose and will bang around a little. Anything more than this will probably be the normal sounds when you get wheel hop. You should get out of the throttle when this happens to prevent any damage of the drivetrain.

I have experienced the wheel hop issue a couple of times under acceleration. I think it has to do with stiffer suspension as well as I am running 185's on the motons. 09 Venom...are you running stock suspension on your coupe?

Its been reported that the shock settings from the factory can vary considerably. I would have your tech check it out, or if you don't mind breaking the seals (voiding warranty), diy.

I have adjusted the Shocks on the ACR to the softest settings for the street. I have also tried them on the recommended track settings. I still get a banging noise as soon as I get any wheel hop. I immediately back out of the throttle when the wheel hop begins to prevent any breakage. I am courious to what causes the noise.
Mark, is there anything I should check that might be loose?
