I just bought a blue hood emblem that appears to be of high quality that I'm thinking of adding on to the outside of the stainless(?) lid of the gas cap on my 96 GTS. That lid looks so dead and the emblem would look so nice and the emblem even has an adhesive backing so it would take about 2 minutes for me to do this. I think MGW has something like this, but I don't see many of these on the cars on this board. Opinions?

I looked into putting an emblem on there. I think it would look great, but the gas cap cover is more curved than the emblem so the edges of the emblem would stick up.

Hey Ryan, The 96 GTS is everything an obsessive compulsive could ever want. No such thing as too much money, silicone, toys....but when it comes to the power of these cars, jeeez louise, I still dont have the stones to floor it and then throw it into second. I'm keeping the car stock as I'm having a hard time handling what I've got. I'm assuming that will change in time, but the car is a beast. Lovin every minute of it. Take care.

The gas cap and the emblem are not the same curvature....

So having said that there is a perfect place for your new emblem....

Pull the tape off the back and stick it to the small glove box between the
seats

Looks very nice from outside of the car.

I'm sure the same guy who made mine would be glad to put an emblem on a fuel filler cover.

Gerald,
I have the MGW cap with the blue snake on my 96 GTS. I get lots of compliments on it and it is a quality piece. That being said, I'm going back to stock on mine. I just prefer the looks of the stock cap. If your interested I'll let you have my MGW cap for half off MSRP. It is mint. LMK

Go with the MGW cap. There's nothing better out there. It gets nothing but compliments.
Vreracing you bought your cap from Jon B, but it's made by MGW.

Michael,
I'll give Gerald 24 hours to see if he wants the cap. If he doesn't it's yours. Send me a pm with your address and I'll ship it to you and you can send payment after you get it if you like it. If you don't like it just send it back. Kevin

I've seen Vipers in person with and without, and was able to look at them, comparing them at the same time. Personally, I didn't like it. Too much of a good thing becomes cheesy. Emblems all over everything? That's cheesy. I wouldn't do it. Naturally, anything can be done...if it's done right. If the cap had had the emblem engraved or embossed into it, that probably would have looked good. The ones that I have seen bore the typical colored Viper emblem.

Randy at ZAF made this for me and it involved extensive reconfiguring of the factory cap to get the contour to match. If I were going to do another, I'd use the trunk emblem off an RT/10 as it is smaller, or just buy one from MGW.

Gerald, you need only place--> [image] <--before the URL and--> [/image] <--after the URL, no spaces between (include the brackets), to get a picture from another website to post to the VCA website. It's quite easy.

Take for example the URL that you posted:
http://www.sleepdental.net/vipergascap1.jpg
All you need to do is place [image] before it and [/image] after it (no spaces), and it will show up as a pic, as it does above, in this post.

I like the looks of that one a lot better than the MGW one. I like the shape of the factory cap. The MGW just looks a little funny to me.

Yes, I DO know. I was intimately involved as a past VCA officer.

They DO NOT use an OE Mopar emblem. MGW became licensed by D-C, and now have a custom emblem made by the D-C vendor for their licensed products. Licensing does are not allow selling just the emblems, only the finished product.

Why not just buy the awesome MGW cap? PartsRack even has em $100 less.....(core exchange.) And we have a couple wrecks with nice salvaged MGW emblems......
