I have found the Porterfield R4S pads to perform quite well both on the street and track. Squealing is "almost" completely eliminated, stopping performance is improved and brake dust is dramatically reduced. This is vis-a-vis stock (Brembo) brake pads. I purchased the Porterfields from Dave Schotz at SVP.

Good Luck .....

The Porterfield R4S may be a great street pad for the Viper, but it is absolutely unsuitable for road course use. The R4 is the proper pad for the track.

Bob Stevenson ordered a set of Porterfield R4 pads for the Viper Days National Championship wheel to wheel race. As we determined several weeks later, the pads he actually received were R4S pads that were mismarked from the supplier. In the 30-minute race, he wore both of the front pads completely down to the backing plates, leaving big round holes in each pad and, of course, damaged his rotors in the process. We have sent the pads back to the supplier for a refund.

Make sure you have R4 and not R4S pads for track use!

Hi Jon. Sorry we haven't managed to get a set of the EBC's heading in your direction yet. We're having a hard time keeping these in stock right now, particularly the fronts. As soon as the next big order arrives, I'll see if we can't do something for you.

Just several points here. EBC's "greenstuff" pads are NOT racing pads. They are defined as a "sport" pad. I HAVE used mine on shorter, low speed tracks, and they have performed quite well, although they DO wear a bit faster.

I would like everyone to understand that while these ARE "Eurobrakes" as Jon described, only their exposure, through "GreatBrakes" to the main body of Viper owners in this country is "new". EBC has been in business for 21 years, and while they probably remain best known worldwide for their outstanding motorcycle brakes, the AUTOMOTIVE pad catalog is already 230 pages, and a half-inch thick. In 1999, these "greenstuff" pads won the United Kingdom's largest import performance magazine "brake shootout", with the award "Best brakes for fast street cars". They also won the UK's Autotrade Magazine "Innovation Award", for their low dust feature in comparison to others. Anyway, the bottom line here is that these are the best "high performance" street pads I've ever seen, on any of my vehicles, ever. I knew a good thing when I saw it, and simply jumped on the bandwagon (well, maybe I helped nudge it along just a little bit as far as pushing them harder to ship more pads to the U.S.). The fact they are so inexpensive in this country, versus the competition, just makes it better.

For more of a racing use, especially on faster tracks, EBC offers two upgraded heat ranges and material. Unfortunately, EBC also hasn't made them widely available yet, and it's still going to take some time before supply meets demand over here. Give us a try at "GreatBrakes", and we think you'll be glad you did.

The answer your question, Porterfield R4S is the pad you want. We sell the full set, (4 wheels) for $269. www.partsrack.com

I know NOTHING yet about the new Euro-pad from KingMan! Claims better "braking and dustless" (a Brake Alchemist's dream!) I hope PartsRack will get to try a set soon...Dan likes to sell what we test and test what we sell. I would also like to hear user-feedback. Please E-me directly?

Woodhouse has been very competitive on BrakeMan brakes. And in cooperation w/ Dan Cragin and Stop-Tech, PartsRack features the StopTech aftermarket brakes. However the author of this thread is NOT a candidate for them....GET R4Ss! !
