Newbie to the forum. Scanned the posts but couldn't find the answer to the following: Looking to upgrade exhaust for that 60's Mopar musclecar sound for my Black Mamba. Important: don't want to loose that "pop, pop, pop" sound when I take my foot off the gas. Have an Aeroturbine muffler on my Rumblebee and a Corsa track system on the wife's H2, like them both. Any help greatly appreciated.

Corsa Track, RT cats and CCI inserts. I have this setup
and it does do the V-Twin pop pop pop when you let your
foot off. Does not have the 60's muscle car sound though,
I think it has to do with the firing order of the V-10.
A bit higher pitch than a V-8.

Thanks Herc. Know where to get Corsa, not familiar with RT or CCI or where to get them. Do you have a recommendation? Is the sound "clean", without a drone of other noise vs. sound. Loud with the right sound is the goal. Thanks again, Rob

If you decide that you want the pop pop sound, you should listen to the mopar RACE exhaust. It is an exhaust system that is a straight through design (3 inch piping). It eliminates both catalytic converters, and the heat issue is completely gone after the installation. The car sounds downright MEAN when you start it up, as well as when you get above 2k rpms. Nothing like it. I'll try and get some sound clips as soon as possible.

Heat issue Flynlo???? Are you referring to the extreme heat within the cockpit of the car during normal driving conditions (brand new viper owner here)??? If so, I want in........
Plus the nice "muscle car" sound enhancement would be a nice little bonus even though the car sounds pretty good in stock form...

Try JonB from partsrack.com. I installed the random tech high flow cats that I ordered from JonB and my car has a lot of that "poppoppop" sound that you are referring to when I let off the gas. Boy does it sound real good. It also helped to reduce the heat in the cabin and the car is very comfortable to drive now.

Albert,

Nice sound clips (especially the first one). Do you have the stock cats or high flow cats? If with stock cats, did the Corsa Track exhaust help to relieve some of the side sill heat? I hope to have a Corsa Track exhaust installed soon but plan on keeping the stock cats.

Thanks.

If you like some pop you should hear the Paxton equipped non-cat straight thru muffler when you hit the rev limiter in first! And damn it is difficult not to hit the limiter in first :)

Hayabusa,

Word of advice, think about your long term "mod" plans for the car. If you install the Corsa's they will sound pretty good compared to stock.

If you add headers later, they (Corsa's) will be extremely LOUD in my humble opinion. I did this and got to pay several times to correct it. I ended up with the B & B system; step headers, pipes, mufflers, etc. Sounds very good, as close to muscle car as you can get with a V-10. Loud but not obnoxious.

Good luck,

Dan

To all who replied,
Yowsa! Thanks to all for the input. Really appreciate your time and attention. Special thanks to Albertfattal for the soundclips and Dan (Viper X) for sharing the enlightenment and saving me the expensive lesson route. I am considering my long term approach and will start with the exhaust system, headers and back. Will wait to see if I win the raffle car first! Again, thank you for the great welcome to the VCA forum and the community that comes with Viper ownership! Rob :usa:
