I accidently knocked off the bottom clip on the drivers side air cleaner.
In order to repair it, I need to remove the air cleaner assembly. the back removes easily but how do I remove the front section of the air cleaner?

It looks like the 2 knurled handles should be turned to release it but no luck. Am i missing something obvious?
service manual doesn't say how to remove it.

thanks for the help.

Don't know if the year matters, but there should be two thumb screws towards the front of the car on each side. Then one at the back of the airbox in the center holding the airboxt to the frame. THe whole box should just lift out after you remove those three. Then undo the clips all the way around and you'll see how the filters come out.

Those screws can be stubborn. You can use a hex key in the center or pliers on the OD. None of those ideas lead to pretty screws when done. Mine are kinda scarred, and the set of 3 is about $35.00!

I also have to loosen the clamps on the throttle bodies to get the correct movement up and then forward.

If you've got all 3 thumb screws and the intake tube hose calmps loosened it should just lift forward and up. It's pretty tight.

If you need to buy additional air box clips, go to your local Chevrolet dealer and get them.
GM part Number 25043286 (CLIP-AIR).
I got some back in 2004, and the cost was $3.28 each.

Later,
