Problem

Air conditioner running air only coming out of top windshield vent. Controls not working

The heat and a/c do work but the control knob is not redirecting the air to the front vents

Any suggestions or recommendations

Yeah it is a pretty easy fix - I had this happen last summer, it was a screw that had backed out of vacuum actuator linkage.

The vent doors for heating/cooling and vent selection are controlled by a few vacuum actuators, two of which are under the dash on the passenger side. There is a plastic kick panel with a few screws, pop those out and then take out the panel and you'll see some vacuum lines and the two interior actuators. On my car, the screw holding the linkage to the two position actuator had backed out, and it defaulted to the defrost/windshield vent setting. It is possible you've got an issue with a vacuum line coming loose or leaking, but screw backing out more likely.

Check Vacuum source first since its easy, may have become disconnected.
