so it's sat nite? Well I think I will show up if the weather is good. I thought it was Saturday during the day. I wish I had a way to bring my new tires and wheels, but no room. But then it means I'd have to put on the HD halfhafts and safety loops so nothing breaks. Not sure if I'd have the time. But I definitely wanna watch. I will try to round up a few other viper guys. Smokin V10 already lives close by, so we could all meet.

Well I have to work in Dallas most of the week, but if I make it back by Friday, I'll try to come up for the races. Now my new viper still has only 1000 miles, so I may not want to beat on it too hard, but if I can make it, we'll see what she can do....

I'll try to get mine put back together soon. Either way, She'll be in running condition, hopefully in track worthy condition. I also thought it was saturday during the day.....I'll be there day night....whatever

Mark, there's always a first time! You'll need a helmet, long pants, and long-sleeve shirt or jacket. Other than that, unless you break into the 11s, you should be good to go.

Oh oh...Maybe this is too personal, but can I try to borrow a helmet just for a run or two? Never been, and the Minister of Domestic Affairs will likely put the kabosh to a quick purchase of a helmet...

I am very confident I have no danger of hitting the 11s...

Yeah Tomer, I have a newly elected "Minister of Domestic Affairs" myself who will likely be the deciding factor of whether I make it on Saturday or not.

Sounds like fun though and I've always wanted to see what I can run (though I'm sure it'll be pretty poor!).

I'd like to put my in-car camera in. What are the restrictions? Right now, its just attatched from the bottom by a bolt, but I know in some specs a separate safety cord is required as well.

Glad you liked it Janni, its one of my favs...

Mark, as for the first run out, yah, I am nervous to put it on the line literally...Its easier to sit behind this computer tube and pose, because there is a chance I might run well if I ever do it...

On the other hand, if I DO run and stink up the place, well, there I am...Humiliated...Time slips don't lie right...

Yeah, but it's really fun running the car on the track.
The good thing is that even a bad run in a Viper is better than many of the other street cars.
And you always have the excuse that it was your first time.

Oh, don't worry Dean, I have a couple more excuses on deck... "I'm not used to the new aluminum flywheel yet"... "The new B&M shifter is really stiff"...

I figure I'll hang on to those and just use the "Its only my first time"... on saturday!

Bad news!! I called Sacto, they told me my Viper Vert would need a full roll bar to run in competition (certain thickness steel or chrome moly, etc...) He said I can come up Friday night and run single lane since its test and tune night...

I asked about the hardtop, and he said they would have to see it and it MAY or MAY NOT be legal to run competition with the hard top...He also made it sound like I have to run with the side curtains in...

Sheesh....Did I get the run around? SHould I call and ask for someone else??

Sacto is a NHRA track, although they're less strict than is Sears Point. Gen-Is with hardtop are fine down to 12 seconds as long as the windows are installed. Without the hardtop, you're a convertible and thus by NHRA rules need a roll CAGE to run faster than 14 secs, although Sacto may let you slide with just a roll BAR.

I've run my gen-II RT w/hardtop into the 11s at both Sacto and Sears without issue; however I've got a rollbar + sidebar, fire jacket, helmet, and 5-points, which satisfies most (though not all) of the NHRA rules.

See http://www.sacramentoraceway.com I certainly plan to be there, especially with the smack talkin' going on on the Supra maillist. One of them seys he'll be there and claims to run 11.0 - 11.2; I've yet to see that, EVER, from any bay-area Supra, so he's either blowing smoke or is a hotshoe I don't know. We'll see if he shows. I'm sure Steve & I will be there to dice it up, and at last check the Corvette-eating turbo Civic will also make an appearance to put us all in our place

Gates open @ 4:30; I recommend getting there on the early side, since Sacto limits the # of tech cards issued to keep the racing from bogging down.
