Well now that I have the Viper some of my friends want to race. Ought to be fun as some of these guys have fast cars. Some of them should run high tens. Of course they will be on slicks and I won't unless I can find some 15" rims to fit a Viper.

Traction at my local track, Carlsbad, is horrible. I figure the Viper to lay down about a 2.3 60' where as these guys will be down in the 1.6-7 range. That's alot of time to make up. Maybe I'll try the spray on the last run?

Don't want to get booted early ;)

Oh well....we'll see.

Carl,
I don't know what you have in your car but it doesn't sound like you want to bet the farm on your Viper.
Those guys sound fast.

What year is your car? If you have the 17" get a set of teh Kumho's V700's, the grip is awesome and it is a street tire, but so soft it won't last long.

You're gonna drive that beautiful car through all that dirt road? Last time I was at Carlsbad, it took a week to get all the dust out. You should do well at Carlsbad. Stock Vipers were laying down low 12's there.

I'll NEVER race at Carlsbad again. Like Ulysses says too much dust on that 8 mile entry road. Have them take the scenic drive up to California Speedway. There are drags most every month and NO dust (except the dust you eat) :D

Going out of town may be an option. I never wanted to do that with my old car without a trailer. Fear of braking something was to great. The dirt road at Carlsbad is a bummer. I have 18" wheels on the Viper. I have a set of slicks and skinnies I'll need to sell since I doubt they will fit on the viper, although I'd love to try the slicks.

And don't worry, I wont bet the farm on the Viper. It's all in good fun. I know the cars and yes they are fast. I still own an F-body (it's up for sale). It ran 11.8 with a broken motor. New motor should be stronger but I hope to sell and not take it to the track. I figured it to run deep 10s spraying....now I hope I never know. I tired of that project and bought the Viper.

It also ****** me off that it was suppose to rain and I didn't drive the Viper today.

I'm having withdrawals......
