I never though I would say/hear "viper" and "ugly" in the same sentance.. but this one is bad! Yuck..

150grand? I think not...

Murals are for lowriders, not vipers. What next, crushed velvet interior and hyrdos?

Sorry... but that is awful. That poor RT...Such a waste. I've never seen a custom paint job increase vehicle worth by factor of 4 LOL

Actually, I've seen the car and the flames are one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. The artist who painted it, Lassen, is fairly famous for painting rainbows-and-moonbeam paintings of whales and dolphins cavorting in the sea. Unfortunately, the dolphins on the hood sort of spoil the effect. If it were just the flames, I'd say the car was worth $150K as long as you were looking for a collector vehicle to win car shows with, not to drive.

I have to agree with you, what a ugly look, you have to have some serious problems if you can't get the attention of women while driving a Dodge Viper in it's original state, and then you have to spend $150,000 on a mural that is a total eye sore. If it is what he say's then why is he selling it?

Last time l saw a mural like that was on a sandman panel van in the 70's.

I am not understanding. So you take a '99 Viper worth 60K give it say a 20K flame paint job. I know I failed 3rd grade math 3 times but that still doesn't equal 150K. Maybe that is the 'new' math I have heard so much about. LOL

The ad says it is a $150,000 paint job. I mean come on even if the paint job takes the guy 100 weeks working 40 hours a day he is still making 70 grand a year.

While the work is impressive, I've seen just as good work come from some of the local artists! 150,000$ for a paint job... obviously someone who has more money than sense. For 150g's, I would have flown him to the lower 48! Probably cheaper than shipping the car, and won't scratch as easily

I'm sorry.. but if i'm putting 150 grand into a viper, she better have Hennesy tattoo'd on it's rear and run in the 8s

Now, I've actually seen the car, nobody else here has, so hold off on flaming the flames. I've been in one of Lassens galleries and the car is pretty famous - it did actually cost $150K to paint. This from a painter who's <u>prints</u> are going for $2K-$10K. The car seriously looks like it's on fire, and if I could afford it then I'd like something similar done to my car (just the flames, though).

Why the dolphin was done I couldn't say, but if you see the flames in person, I think every Viper owner would think to themselves, "Holy smokes, that looks cool".

I think it is actually frugly.

It looks like that guy on Beauty and the Beast TV show.

What an ***. Save the 150K and give it to Childrens Cancer Center or something worthwile.

Art is like wine if you don't like it, it tant worth the dad burn high price people try to say it is worth.

My appologies to wine connoisseurs, art afficionados and yuppys.

I have seen the car up close..... it's sick. Ugly is the correct word.

They have had that thing for sale for along time.

Okay so the car looks a little sick but it was done with the flames I think in an effort to make it look "cool".
I have seen lassens work many times and have spend many hours in his galleries being just amazed!! the guy does kick bass or in this case dolphin!! check out the good pic of the hood
http://home1.gte.net/res0humz/viperhood.jpg

now that is what he is famous for!!! the diablo he did was incredible it was a pinkish color with dolphins no outrage lines just elegant. that is what I think he should have stuck to but
to each his own.. I myself think he blew it with the flames and it burnt him
laugh.gif

so yes this car is ugly but I would let him try again if money was no object. and after I had done some other serious upgrades like 650r or twin turbo

The artist seems to be good at painting dolphins... that's great. I'm sure he is very popular in the art community...

But what is the corolation between a Snake, flames, and a dolphin? Is this suppost to be some evolotionary depiction? hehe..

Like I said.. his art must be good if it's selling for 2K a print(rip in my op...) but sounds more like a artist who caters to the yuppies with too much $. One of those things you have to have in your home or it's simply not "compliant" with the neighbors....
That's pretty sick, atleast to me.

Now.. if he had managed to paint a reptilian looking job all over the car... like green scales or something, that would have been justifiable.. (may get flames for this)

Well I have to agree with you guys on this one! its UGLY. But seeing as i have one of his paintings ive got to say this was his worst work i've ever seen!. He normally paints lambo's and they normally look great but this time he F****D up. He likes doing water schemes, he should of taken a blue/white gts and painted that.

I agree it looks UGLY from the pic I see here.
HOWEVER, I also know Lassens work, actually I have 2 of his pictures hanging in my house. The question is, how do you plan to enjoy your Viper? Track, drag, weekends, once in a blue moon, show car???? Over the years I have been amazed/astonished what artists get for their work. Who knows how famaous and popular his work will be considered in the future. Someday you may be kicking yourself because you had the opportunity to buy this rare gem. Take it for what it is....a rare, one of a kind,
Viper! I hope it sells for $250,000.

I guess the saying it true... "to each their own".

A blue GTS would be more fitting for dolphins than a red one w/ flames... but...what ever floats his boat.

Just plain horrid! I love how people buy expensive art and then have to tell every one how famous the artist is and how much his/her work costs. Art and style should speak for themselves without a price tag being the criterion.

The artist may be very talented, but that level of talent did not translate on this work. I'm further sickened at the thought that some one would waste that much money on such a worthless act. Donate some of that money to charity and then the owner might deserve some of that blatantly desperate attention that is sought!

This has got to be some sort of scam. The dude has zero feedback, and it's been bid on by another zero feedback guy. How many times did you read the guy has an f50 and a diablo. I mean telling people once is enough, but 3 times? Yeah dude we're really impressed, you destroyed a nice car, AND defaced a decent artist. Lassen's stuff is nice, on a scuplture, on a painting, sure, but on a car? goofball. SURE it'll sell for 220, NOT

I think what this guy meant was a $15,000 paint job which makes sense. If he did pay $150,000, either he is Bull$hitting us or he is a complete idiot. I payed for my paint job on my bike which has won every show under the sun including the rat hole in Daytona, but my paint job cost me $5,000 and it blows the Viper away..One word for him...IDIOT!!!!!

It reminds me of that commercial .... "Do you like to draw or sketch, or maybe just doodle?". This so-called artist just "DOODLED" all over God's gift to the automobile world. Absolute blasphemy!!! I would call it the "Vomit-mobile".
