Wonder if it's similar to the "hardtop edition" Chargers and Challengers or whatever it was called. Basically a blackout kind of package for the sinister look. Sounds like it will be pretty mean looking.

It is a matte black paint job. I saw the first one being built, when I toured the plant. Sounds like it will be killer looking, with the orange accents and carbon!

What's the care & feeding like on a matte paint finish? Being a black car owner forever and knowing how many coats of wax and the regular cleaning, etc it takes, seems like a matte would be really tough .. or is there a new trick involved for sealing and caring for it??

Sounds cool, if it can be maintained while being really driven as it should be.

Matte is the biggest pita ever to own.

you can't clay, you can't buff, you can't wax, harder to wash, the list is endless

It's a cool look. In 2007...:)
Seriously it probably will look very different but if it's offered on the GTS as an upgrade going to be one pricey car.

I wonder if it's more like the Harley satin finish. That's actually pretty slick to the touch and I think you can treat it like normal paint.

I saw a fatboy low with that "denim" finish, very cool. Not sure on the care of it, I didn't ask, but it looked cool enough that it would be a color choice if I were buying a harley .. but of course that's just the tank & fender for care, no biggee.

I talked with a sales guy about it some time ago when my grandpa was looking at bikes, but don't remember what all he said. Pretty sure it was just the clearcoat that changes (probably a "duh" kind of statement), but I could have sworn he said it was essentially the same as the regular paint, just a flattener in the clear to knock down the shine. Maybe more like a translucent clear so that it doesn't matter if you polish it some if the whole clear layer isn't clear as opposed to just the surface (if that makes any sense)?

My 09 has a matte ACR like center band. It is the easiest part of the car to take care of.

Just wash like any other finish. You can touch it up with either windex or detail spray. Always looks great.

Couldn't find any pics anywhere yet. I'm really interested in checking this one out.

Oh yeah, I forgot that detail spray seems to work pretty well. I did a satin rattle can black on my 67 Dart hood and it cleans up nice with some detail spray. Haven't ever tried to wax/polish it though. The one time I've waxed the car I made sure to keep it off the hood.
