Another Gas Gauge Question

I have a 95 that I recently purchased,,, am getting to know it and its quirks,,, i've read a few theads about the gas gauge not being accurate,,, my issue is this... my gauge shows half full,,, went to gas station to fill it and it would only take a dollar,,, when I drive it the needle is all over the place,,, not quite like a tach but one minute it says half, the next it says empty,,,is there history as to which piece causes this??? is the filler neck and tank in a position that would allow a 'dip stick' to manually check the level.... thanks in advance

The fill neck has a one way anti theft - anti vapor valve on it. Stick in, stick not come out. Try a new sending unit or gauge or just use the trip odometer.

sounds like the overflow shutoff tripping, try adjusting the fill angle of the nozzle, slowing down the flow rate, or a different pump.
