Has there been any news released on the new Viper Roadster/Convertible?
Any word on why the delay? I figured they would have engineered the car with a Roadster/Convertible in mind from day 1.

With all due respect, if Dodge really wants to increase sales the Roadster/Convertible would boost sales.
Having a F1 (Paddle) shifter tranny would also really help.

In my opinion, the car is seriously fast enough, I am not too interested in a Super Charged/Twin Turbo (I really don't see how they could make a profit on it after spending big Engineering $$$ and Smog certification.) .... But if they offer it in the Roadster, my deposit is going in ASAP!!!!

Yup that lemon/lime medusa is sweet! I'm not sure they'll do a vert until after they do the ACR, as they likely think an ACR will sell better.

If the "Targa" roof on the coupe would me the Viper look like the Gen1-Gen2 RT/10's I am all for that great Idea!!!!

After talking with a couple gar guys, no doubt having the F1 Paddle Tranny would boost sales tremendously... Dodge Please consider this!!!!

They said they only did 8 convertibles there. Do you think they actually sold one considering the $35000 added price tag?

Absolutely, some people just have more disposable income than others and driving what one wants instead of driving what one can afford, just makes the experience better

We saw the draft version Ralph showed us 3 years ago, wow, 3 years ago ... then we had the easter egg tease in the SRT promo video they released with the guy working the full size clay model of an obvious targa version ... so where are they on production, God only knows. The only hope I'd say is that they kept the Hellcats and the new Supercharger well under wraps, other than a squashed rumor or two, not a peep, and then bam, we get hellcats, we get the Venom controller, supercharger read-ahead marketing, etc. So, the fact there's no news other than a slight teaser in the past 6 mos, doesn't mean it's not coming. I'd say 2016, but if we don't see it for 2016 then I'd say it was just never approved.

Dodge had a good formula. Build the convertible first, then the coupe. They messed it up when they built the coupe first. IMO, that's why so so many 2013 Vipers sat.

Agreed.
The Roadster/Convertable should have come first.

But more importantly, I think the biggest sales boost would come from a "Paddle/F1 Style 8 Speed" Transmission with a "Auto Mode". Don't kill me for saying this!!. :)

I am eagerly waiting for news on the new Convertable/Targa/Roadster (whatever it will be).
But my patience is running low, and thinking of picking up a 2000-2002 Rt/10 if I don't hear anything very soon.

** If you look in the RT/10 Gen 1/2 section, I sold my 2000 Viper with 106,000 dependable miles!!!! So I am really missing my driver enjoyment vehicle. **

I am not holding out for the paddle shifts ... but just for the roadster.

(My only hope for the Paddle shifts,... is increased sales of the Viper to keep the program alive for years to come).

I am still waiting----and waiting----and waiting on a plain ole SRT that I ordered on January 28th. Almost 2 months ago and they can't even tell me if the car has been scheduled to build yet. So it could be forever and a day before a roadster and/or paddle shifters make an appearance.

Regards

If you think Viper sales were dismal with the coupe imagine with just the roadster which wouldn't sell a quarter of the number.
They would have sold ten a month. Maybe. NOBODY who races would have bought one. Many people would never buy a vert (like me).

They did the coupe so they could launch with a race track car immediately & get back into racing, that's what was difference this time, key part of their strategy, FWIW.

So I agree no one who races wants a vert, but there are so few buyers who actually "race". For track days, well I've been doing them with my vert vipers since 1999, all it takes is an autoform, the only real difference is the look, the stiffness is the same between coupe and vert according to SRT, so if you like the coupe or the vert is really all there is to decide. Then it's just a matter of how many buyers of you'd have, but I don't think that would matter because .... I don't think it was a coupe or vert thing at all.

The marketing sucked donkey butt, they made every mistake that one can make in releasing the gen5 - pieces flying off the car at testings, mix matched tires are testings, the car fell on it's face IMO for that simple reason, they made it look bad while it was really a masterpiece, that and thinking all buyers were interested in $150k gussied up cars and loading dealers with princess GTS maxed out cars, another marketing mistake.

Anyway, I'm sure the targa will be released any day, because I just got my gen5 to its perfect state and I'm loving it beyond belief, so naturally, now would be exactly when a targa would show up. lol

If that happens, just bring the car over and we can fix the roof situation......

Correction on my order date- It was January 9th and the 28th was the day they gave the VIN number. Still no word on when it might be completed. It would be nice if they would say no sooner than **** but no later than ***** or anything.

No one really knows much (that are willing to talk, and the insiders we have asked always say "we do not comment on future products"). The Viper refresh was stated by FCA a year or so ago, with no details behind it.

There is a plant tour coming up in May led by the Ohio VCA, perhaps we can get some snippets there...

Sorry guys .. I am bumping this thread. The 2016 are nearly ready to be assembled at the Factory, and still no news. The ACR was announced, where is the "LOVE" for the Roadster. Has anyone heard any news on the Roadster???

I'd say with Prefix now offering a targa at an arguably attractive price, and I'd assume they are certainly in the know for what Dodge is doing and their business decisions are tied to Dodge product strategy, that Dodge isn't doing a production targa. Otherwise Prefix would be stupid to launch this, knowing that they aren't stupid, I think the targa is with Prefix or nothing at all.

As for a true vert, glass if half full or half empty. With Prefix switching from the medusa vert to a targa, you could say that Dodge may have a vert coming and will be taking that market. Or you could say that the vert option was so pricey and the targa so reasonable and maintains the coupe look, that Prefix just switched gears for a more marketable option and it's no indication of a vert. I'd seriously consider the Prefix targa, but it would be a winter project, so I have plenty of time to see if anything comes from SRT that's interesting.
