any of you guys own a 6speed f430?

Want to get your feed back on a 6speed f430 as a viper owner. I'm thinking of picking one up, just not sure if I want to keep my RSI built gen3 or sell it for the F430.

Here's some feedback in reverse....Go for it!! Everyone should own a Ferrari at least once. new or used. I custom ordered a 2004 F360 Modena 6 speed, basically a peice of industrial art...super fun car, but tired of it after 5 yrs. Yearned for a return to American muscle, and bought a 2009 Vert off dealer floor, knowing nothing about Viper except a big engine, loud exhaust and an in your face attitude look.

Im on my 3rd Viper, just keep coming back to these cars over the years. I was fortunete enough to have owned a 2004 Murcielago about 7 years ago but found my self missing the viper at that time. Ive alwasy loved the F430 epsically in the metallic grey and now that they can be had for around 100k, the idea is becoming more and more appealing, but i would have to sacrifice my srt to do so. Hmmmm

If you sold your Murci for a Viper I'm sure the 430 will do nothing for you. If your looking for status buy a Ferrari.

The Ferrari sounds good at WOT, but you'll be wondering where they hid the torque and throttle response.

I did not sell the murcie for the viper LOL. Ive had "status" cars, lambo, bentley, maserati etc, etc, etc. I'm not looking for a F430 for that reason. I simply have always liked the car and want to experience owning it, driving it, modding it etc.

Not a fan of the 360 as much but your right they are very nicely priced. I have other cars in the stable I can part with besides the viper if I wanted to keep it, Im thinking I might be ready to part with it but want a sutable replacement if I do. This happeneds every time, I love building them but as soon as its done I'm looking for another project lol

Some people are completely incapable of comprehending that a person can want a car to just to experience the ownership of it.
Especially if its an exotic.

I was not insinuating that was the case here at all and my apologies if it came off that way. Buy what you want if you want it. If your asking other people for their opinions that's what you're going to get. I can comprehend very well. To me I don't see the appeal and that is solely my opinion. From my experience with the cars they are expensive to buy, maintain and mod. And all this seems true with the 360. Inexpensive to purchase but I've heard the reliability and maintenance afterwards is far inferior to the F430.

As FerraritoViper said above, if you have the means why not experience different cars.
Going from a Gen 3 to an F430 isn't exactly going backwards, there are a lot more things to appreciate about a car than just speed.

I'm realizing just that in my older age lol. I'm beginning to appreciate other things then just loud and brute power, which i still love by the way :)

I almost bought an F430 a few months ago. Test drove a beat up/abused one and it still was great. Quite possibly the best driving experience I've ever had. I still want one, but don't want to spend more than $100k. F1 tranny is the way to go because it's really that good, but clutch changes will be often (every 20k+ miles) and expensive. Forget about tracking it though. The brakes, especially the ceramics, get eaten alive at the track from what I've read, at the expense of performance, and they are very expensive to replace the rotors and pads. People here that complain about Viper tax just don't know what owning a high end exotic really feels like on the wallet. Oil changes are $400+, spark plugs are $50 each, and clutches are $5k. But it's worth it if you can afford it. To me the F430 is my favorite Ferrari of all time, next to the Enzo.

That's true. I was quoting the cheaper shop price though but with a kevlar clutch. The clutch alone is $3500 and I figured $1500 labor. The only dealer in town quoted me $8k to replace a Gallardo clutch. :omg:

On the F430, the spark plugs are fairly easy to replace. Oil changes are not straight forward, but youtube videos can guide you through it. Forget about replacing a clutch yourself, I downloaded a 75+ page doc on the process and you basically rip the entire rear end out. You need a lift and a zillion special tools from Ferrari/Lambo to do it right on either car. Once you are done, you still need to take it to the dealer to have the clutch electronically calibrated.

Yeah if you have a lift you can do any of the fluids yourself after studying some videos and getting a few tools like the specialized wrench you need for an L oil filter.
Brakes are straightforward, but things having to do with the clutch or E-gear are complicated and you have to know what you're doing.
Basically have to tear down the engine for that.
Then like klamathpro says you need to have the software to recalibrate the clutch.
But there are shops that have the factory software so again any time you can avoid a dealer is a win.

Friend had a Maranello 550 with manual that I preferred. He traded it for a 599 GTB with paddles. Same with the 430 ,autos don't do anything for me.

I wouldn't mind it with a gated shifter, it sounds good when you get on the paddle though! >

That Noble above tempts me more than a 360 or 430. Any car that attempts to impress me by showing me their $8,500 and $14,000 receipts for various maintenance costs scares me off

I hear you. That little M400 puts a lot of high end supercars to shame. If money wasn't an object, the Noble M600 would be the ultimate sleeper here in North America since it's quite unknown. My friend's is the only one in Canada too.

I'd recommend to Anton to check out the Rossion Q1. They offer a full carbon bodied model now at 110K.
