I have a lift and I can get to the mounts easy enough. But I don't have a hoist. Can I lift the motor from underneath (thinking 2x10 under the oil pan and a sissor lift) safely, or will I break something? Any other way for the minor lift needed to swap the mounts? Are there any heavy duty mounts so I don't have to do this again? Thanks for any and all advice.

Don't lift by the oil pan. Haven't changed one on the Viper, but I definitely know from experience that lifting by the oil pan is bad.

Dave,
What do you mean "custom" engine mounts? Something made from a material other than sponge rubber. I replaced mine a couple years ago, and at the time was looking for a "HARD" rubber or neoprene material, but nothing was available.

Dave,
While I was away I missed two Chargers home games. I have great seats for Denver on the 10th and football trumps the Viper party (this year at least).

I am having the urethane motor mounts and the trans mounts installed by Woodhouse as we speak on my GTS.
I'll see the difference (I hope) when I get the car back to the track in the spring.

Wow I must be getting old! I changed my mounts last year and now youv'e got me baffled. I could swear I lifted it from the pan. I do have a cherry picker and a lift, but if I'm not mistaken Dan Craigin told me it was okay to lift it at the pan as youv'e described. Give him a call. You will have to disconnect the factory headers if youv'e still got them. The factory v-band connectors may or may not seal after you pull them apart. I haven't used the urethane mounts on the Viper, but had them on my Camaro. They are nice but will certainly transmit more vibration in the car. I also had solid motor/tranny mounts, they are great at loosening every fastener in the car. Good Luck

The cast aluminum pan on these motors is MORE than strong enough to support the motor if you put something big like a 2x6 between it and the jack.

If you guys want the cats ass, hit up Paolo Castellano for some kickass solid motor mounts and end all the future issues.
