I was aproached yesterday from one of my co-workers, asking me if I would bring my '96 GTS to his Daughters Birthday party this Saturday afternoon to give some rides. I guess this would surely beat a Pony ride, and it won't leave a mess either. He said he'd pay my gas, and make sure I left on a full stomach. Anyone else have a request kinda like that before ??? Here's the part you can have some fun with: He lives about 40 miles south of me in Moose Lake, Minnesota best known for the cabin / meat grinding scene at the end of the movie "Fargo". ****Oh yeah, No I don't talk like that**** Or should I say, Heck no, for cripes sake we don't talk Dat way here yah !!

At my old high school the Homecoming ladies are driven out onto the football field by local guys with sports cars. I was asked to do this last her. The girl that road atop my RT/10 was happy but noted, "More people were hollering at the car that at me".

All the time.

I get asked a lot to bring it over for a Picture taking session. No problem.

When I had my Ferrari, all the kids knew that straight A's meant a ride to school one morning. I have now been spreading the same deal with my Viper.

Yah shure I bin to Dalute.
We were approached about "auctioning" off a Viper ride for my daughter's elementary school fundraiser. We did it without any problems and it raised some money for the school. We just set up a few ground rules so the bidders would know what they were getting into: I or my wife would drive, winner would be buckled up, no speeds over limit, no smoking etc. We also "sold" some polaroid pictures of people at the wheel in a racing helmet. People had to buy tickets for all the activities and we collected 4 per picture, if I remember correctly. We donated the film and I took the pictures and monitored peoples activity around the car. It seemed that was more popular than the auction as I had a couple of pocketfuls of tickets by the end of about 2 hours. It seemed that the car generated alot of talk by people attending the fundraiser.

So when you take kids (& early teens) on rides, what do you do other than cruise? Do you do any performance driving? Any burn outs?

I have done several rides, and I usually dont do burn outs, cuz no place close that is not crowded...But I do nail it on straight on ramps, so they can feel the power.

Two months ago I was "chased down" in the parking lot of a local grocery store by one of their cashiers. She admitted being pretty embarrassed to ask, but she practically begged me to give her soon-to-be-13 year old son for a ride on his birthday, as the Viper is his favorite car of all time. She gave her pertinent information, and I said that I might be able to arrange a ride (the birthday date was still a month away). I suppose she assumed I was pretty harmless considering I had my two-year-old riding shotgun with me that day.

I ended up giving the boy a short ride on his birthday (his family lives only a mile from my place), and he was very very excited, polite, and well-spoken. I once had a Viper owner take me on a cruise when I was 21 years old, and was happy to be able to similarly make someone's day. I did forewarn the teen's family that he's now officially been snake bitten.Text

I've given a few kids rides. It kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, knowing that you just made some kid's day. I know if I had ever gotten a ride in one when I was a kid I would have told that story five million times.

And nothing is better than everytime you give someone a nice high speed ride and you see how much they love it, you know when they get older they will enjoy high speed driving just as much

Tomer,
I usually do a tire chirp or two and an acceleration on an Interstate on-ramp. I also put the rider in the ACR's 5 point harnesses and cinch them down tight so they feel more of the forces on their bodies as we drive. I don't do anything potentially dangerous including exceeding the speed limit. Most of the ride is accelations and stops with a few tight curves thrown in.

You are all VERY GOOD PEOPLE!!! I know that when I get my Viper, I will treat the experience the same as all of you!

I especially like the idea of giving the kids with straight A's rides to school. Anything I can do to benefit people is good in my book!

In fact, one of our members, Vic Rough, gave me a ride last weekend. I would own a Viper right now, but I promised the wife that a house comes first! (as it should, I guess...). At any rate, I IM'd Vic and he offered a ride. What an experience! Snake bitten doesn't even begin to describe it. My co-workers are sick of hearing about it! I can't wait until I have the same ability to give others rides in my Viper.

Thanks again to Vic! He also let me drive it, saying "if you would like to do some burnouts, we should find a less crowded area...." My first time driving a Viper, and he offers burnouts...what a guy!!

I will leave the end of the evening to everyone's imagination, but for the Viper ride you gave them, what did you treat them to? How aggressively did you drive?

Awhile back someone metioned a "Ride for Charity". It was a deal where people would pay a small fee for a ride, and all the proceeds would go to a Charity orginization. Anyone know of one that has ever existed like that ?? It seems that Any exotic sports cars, or cool cars in general could do it, and I suppose they'd even let a Vette participate too............J.K. I think it would be a great success wherever it would be.

Some Pacific NorthWest Viper Club members and I did some charity rides for a whole bunch (more that 60) grade school students at one of their fairs last March. Despite the rain, everyone had a great time and agreed that it was the highlight of the day. We just did a lap around a long block with each student, with was plenty of thrill for them. I'd totally say that you should do it, just resist the temptation to show off too much; keep it safe for the kids.

The Noth Texas Viper Club held a charity event at Texas Motor Speedway a couple of months ago. People paid to do laps around the track with us. I loved it! I think I had as much fun as the people that rode with me. It was for a great cause too. Can't beat it.

Just last week i was asked How much i charged for someone to take a picture with the car. Of couse i told them to just snap away. I even opened the door for a young kid and let him sit in it.

Funny there were 2 c5 in the lot that were neglected. Not fair i tell you.

Here's my 2 cents: When Viper owners give people rides it absolutely makes their day. I know, because I am one of those people. I have had 2 rides in a Viper and I AM BITTEN FOR LIFE. I have yet to meet someone in the VCA who is snobby about their Viper and it makes me want a Viper even more.

I'm on the board of our regional food bank. The hospital here holds a big food drive each year, with radio, TV etc. I park the Viper at the food drive and take pics of people sitting in it for $5.00. Make a couple of hundred dollars each time, get a little nervous with the excited kids running around, but it's well worth it!

Have also given rides and pictures for my church's youth group, and yes, keep it safe (I even had a liability waiver written for the parents to sign).

I also keep a polaroid in the car so at any parking lot I can take a pic of an excited fan! (I take two of the good looking ladies, one for me to keep!)

Well,
The Birthday party on Saturday was a great experience for both the kids and me. They were very excited when the car arrived, and they couldn't wait for the ride. After we all ate some great food, The kids each lined up for a Poloroid photo shot of them in the Driver's seat holding onto the steering wheel. Then came the rides...... They loved every moment they were in the car, cruizin around for about 10 minutes each. I took it really easy with the kids, as they had enough fun just riding along. There was one boy who was the older brother of the B'day girl, and when I entered the main highway with him, I got on it to bring it up to the 55mph speed limit as fast as I could, chirping the tires when I grabbed second gear. He was all smiles after that !! That Poloroid Camera was a great little investment for me, and I think every Viper should have one in the car at all times. Those Kids never put those pictures down after they developed right before their eyes.

Don't pass up an opportunity to make a kids day.

Awesome stuff! I ALWAYS carry a Polaroid camera in the Viper and have almost since the day I got the car. A minor investment that REALLY makes a LOT of people happy. Ain't it great to be a "Viper Ambassador"?

Chris

PS to rdustman: You are welcome. Since most of the guys that go to that ******* in Overland Park with their Vipers are married, we set up the waitresses just for you.

I've done it a bunch of times.

Kid's birthdays, great school grades, good employees, babes on the sidewalk and even a Mrs. Virginia in a parade. I've even had girls ask for a ride with my very attractive wife in the car.....they didn't care!

Mrs. Virginia almost fell off the bar backwards when, fighting fatigue, my foot slipped off the clutch. Only my quick thinking of tossing out my right arm and grabbing her legs kept her from falling out.
