Mechanical changes that I know of include;
- No more track-pak on SRT model
- Trak-pak brakes come standard on GTS models
- GTS models have a $1500 price increase
- The brakes available on the TA package are a new mechanical change
- SRT hood can now be had on the GTS model

I doubt anything mechanically will change other than what I listed. Maybe 2015 will have some revisions.

I don't understand why they are getting rid of the track pack for the SRT. That is my biggest gripe. Absolutely stupid and to me it appears to try and force buyers who want it into the GTS.

You could also look at it as the opportunity to save the Track Pack money and build your own monster. Or maybe the TA will be there to fill that void instead?

Do to this I am not longer interested in the Gen V. Good job SRT.

I always thought you guys were promoting the SRT model with track pack for owners who actually track there cars.

I hate to say it but it makes me feel the same way, after 14 yrs of vipers I feel let down on this point. I was excited when I saw Billet Silver for MY14, I think that kid like excitement of picturing my Silver/Black SRT with TP and black Wheels, and then hearing no TP anymore, was a double whammy.

Mark is certainly right, as Bill has said also, you can use those funds and mod for this, or pay the extra premium and go up to the TA (with ltd colors, of course Silver not being included). And I'm sure I'll 'get over it'. But it does sting that they pretty much killed the setup that Ralph touted as the old-schoolers track oriented car. Now you have to pay-up an extra $7-10K and limit your colors to get the 'track car'. I'm not "out", yet, but disappointed, yes.

I am unsure of the problem - I am sure you can buy the rotors and tires for much less not through SRT...
You're right, which is why it's not put me out yet. Just like you can get a super cool set of rims from DV8 vs the TP wheels and it'd be great. But, I was really excited they had my exact desire, from the factory, and I love the TP wheels in black. I'm just disappointed I lost my perfect stock/factory car. Hec, maybe I'll compromise on color and pick up a left-over red with TP and do DV8 rims or something and stripes, MCS. I dunno, but it feels like a plan B to me .. just a IMHO thing, y'all are right for sure, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed, at the moment anyway.

I would be shocked if someone could show me where you can get the stop-tech rotors, the trak-pak tires, and have them installed for less than $3500. I bet it won't even be close.

Agreed about getting rid of the trak-pak being stupid. SRT should've just done one model with a build it how you want it platform. They probably used the same logic in this decision as they did when they negotiated their agreement with Prefix seeing how we pay $5k for stripes and $14k for Stryker Red....

I'd bet there were so few ordered with the Track Pack in the SRT model it just didn't make sense to offer it.

But, alas - who knows in the end.

I mean, out of the 100 red SRT + Track Packs, there were only 70 or so SRT built anyway... It all comes down to cost for SRT to do it, which is why I assume it disappeared (Just not enough demand to justify it)

The TA I could live for 7K up-charge with but what are the actual chances of getting one of the 33 orange ones which is the only color I would be interested in.

From what I gather they are building 99 Orange, 33 Black and 33 White now... Virtually same # of SRTs built.

Has the discontinuation of the SRT track pack been confirmed or are we still basing this off rumor speculation?

I guarantee the TA upcharge will be over $15k before you pick the Crusher Orange, or whatever it is called. I expect an MSRP of a TA to be near $120k.

SRT talked me out of wanting to buy a TA by basically saying that it was best considered as a dedicated track car, rather than a streetable and weekend track car, and that was where the SRT with Track Pack came in. I definitely don't want the GTS to flog around the track. I thought with the Viper I wouldn't have to buy it and mod it for the track...been there, done that.

What's ironic about your post is that the TA was reported as having a softer ride which gave Pobst more confidence. Would be funny if the TA wound up riding better than the GTS.

According to other VCA post with 2014 options, you can still get the Sidewinder wheels ($1700) and Corsa tires ($800) as separate options. The brake rotors would need to be purchased separately (same as the GenIV ACR and available from stoptech), but otherwise you can create the track pack from the existing options for 2014. It's annoying that they itemized it like that. I figure that it was more about increasing the performance spread between the GTS and the SRT (especially since the GTS now comes with the upgraded stoptech rotors as standard).

SRT didn't learn the lesson, how many red track packs are owner-less? If you want to make a proper profit listen and follow your customers don't force their hands and dissapoint. If we want track packs we'll ask for it on the options we like otherwise you can't just conclude nobody wants it on the SRT model. What happened to the old-school owners propaganda marketing thing? bad move.
plan B of getting the plenty available red cars sounds rediculous. If I'm paying 100+ it better be according to what options I desire.

Red Vipers haven't historically been top sellers. It is almost like SRT flooded the market with the red cars first, to give them a longer duration on the lots to sell them all. Had those SRT Track Pack cars came out in black, GTS blue, or white, bet all of them would have sold by now.

As others said, you can still order most of the track pack options, except the brake rotors. Luckily, the Gen 4 rotors are the same, and easily available. I can set you guys up with some very nice forged wheels :)

Can anyone provide a link to SRT or Randy Pobst saying that tweaks to the TA suspension resulted in a softer or more subtle ride than the SRT with Track Pack? I was sure I had read that the TA setup would basically be a bone-jarring car to drive on public roads, but setup and exceptionally capable on the track as seen in the Laguna Seca results.

We often second guess what SRT does, without realizing that maybe changes were made due to the requests of the majority of the buyers. SadViper mentions that if folks want something they will ask for it, and frankly that is the exact reason the Sidewinder wheels are a stand alone now. Dealers and consumers told SRT they wanted the wheels and not necessariy the track pack. I can concur that most of our buyers only bought the track pack for the rims and never intend to track the car. I track my car and I like the option, but I also have to realize that most buyers do not ever track their Viper. So, in listening to the desires of the majority of buyers, they upset some others, but this is all due to listening to what Dealers and Viper buyers were telling them. Hard to fault them , since many of remember the old days of three colors and no other choices. They are not going to make everyone happy, everytime, but this is a perfect case of changing to meet the real demands of the bulk of the buyers.

What I don't understand is why they had to remove the track pack option, if they want to add the option for the wheels. Why can't they do both?

Supply side economics with a low volume , hand built car. The simple answer is that the Stoptech Rotors are now standard on the GTS. There is a point where changes to low volume machines were deemed impossible ( look at the past years of the Viper ), and now that we have can do folks with SRT many are still not satisfied. If one saw all the items that are delayed with regular production cars and trucks , it would begin to make more sense, but the Viper faithful are very passionate and we sometimes aren't as thankful for all the changes that are now being implemented, imho.

The other answer is they want differentiation between the GTS and the SRT ---- same concept that is done on all vehicles , regardless of make. You want certain options you move up to the next model.

I don't know if we officially know, good question, or if options will change through the ordering year. Info has been another frustration IMO.

I've had the cash for this car sitting in an account since Oct. Waited for VOI to know what I wanted, heard about aero, and vert, wanted to wait til the aero optin was available and it never really was essentially, the vert is still in the air. Knowing what I know now I'd have just order an SRT gray with TP, but then I guess I'd still be waiting for it, while I'm in my 2014 daily driver for a month now, so I guess I'm glad I didn't order it and end up like the early guys who did. SRT & dealers decided on the options of the majority of cars, so not how they know what we want. Maybe they're getting that new market they wanted, but how's that working out for them, with inventory everywhere and Ralph reporting in mags that they're 100% sold, more hype, sold to dealers, not people ... are we supposed to be stupid because we're loyal. The TA was supposed to some out 6 mos later than it did, the ZR1 comparo forced them to bring it to market 6 mos early, MotorTrend didn't force them to build it, they forced them to bring it out earlier - according to Ralph anyway. Seems maybe that has caused the death of the TP SRT, who knows at this point.

I remember when the gen3 launched and we current owners got coupons for early cars and a discount, the days when the loyalty ran both ways, lately I feel like I'm on a one way street in that regard. And if SRT is listening to dealers on what to build, then God help them. Other than a handful like you guys that are truly expert in the car & community, the majority of dealers can't spell SRT let alone Viper - and they're the ones SRT is listening to? God help us too if that's the case.

Maybe we'll see a "build it" app in 2014, that would be nice too.

Then every company in the World is stupid. Simple statement of reality. You want a Supercharged Vette , you move up to a ZR1, it is not an option on a base Coupe. Folks are complaining about a set of rotors not available on one model , yet they are standard now on a GTS.

SRT listened to Viper owners, and Dealers , and did marketing and decided to upgrade rotors on their top of the line model. We are complaining as they wanted to make a change for the better on the GTS, yet in the grand scheme of things it just comes down to some thinking they can do everything when only a few years back there was virtually no options.

I know for a fact that the main group of consumers complaining about the Sidewinders only being available by getting the track pack were current Viper owners. They canvassed a bunch of Dealers and we told them that the rims were being bought with the track pack only because they were not seperate. Bingo, for 2014 they made a change to make the rims more accessible. So rims seperate, tires seperate, and rotors only available on the GTS, plus later, even bigger ones ( Brembo ) on the TA.

I have to admit I am puzzled why we think , as Viper owners, we can have every single option exactly as we want it, when this is not possible on mass produced cars. It is not easy to build 200 of something, when other vehicles build 200,000 of a similar part. There are concessions that have to be made and not every thing can be done. Why are folks complaining when there are so many choices compared to the past, as it is easy to see that no matter what SRT does it can't make everyone happy.

Chevy seems to have figured it out on their 13,000+ production Corvette.

One can order a base Corvette, choose what wheels they want, what color brake calipers they want (base, black, grey metallic, red, yellow, silver) One can also add the ZR-1 spoiler to the base vette, one of 4 different headlight assembly colors, along with choice of cross drilled rotors, suspension, axle ratio etc etc. They are not forcing you to step into a "premium" model.

They must have used magic to figure that out, because SRT has yet to figure it out on a less than what, 700 hand built model year?

+1

I really only wanted the rotors and wheels. I could have lived without the tires.

I said it in another thread and I'll say it here. GM just has way better manufacturing than SRT. They are really good at getting things done for cheap. But hey when you change that brake caliper color they charge you 600 for it. But only in disregard do I disagree with Bill.

I believe SRT should adopt bentley's model. Because both are hand built and they make around 4-6 a day they really should let you option how ever the hell you want and just charge accordingly simple as that. They should only have 1 viper since they all share the same engine and overall suspension their should be one viper and you build it how you see fit.

This honestly would be the best approach rather than have a SRT, GTS, TA, ACR.

It should be GTS and later ACR and the ACR needs to be completely different. And both should come in a convertible.
