Anyone replace or come up with a nice looking Gen. 1 door handle?

I can't stand the ugly, cheap plastic door handle. I have nice handle surrounds, but the actual handle is awful - I am ashamed of it actually. Anyone ever replace it, put an alum. cover or slip on it? Any thoughts?
