Anyone with a service manual answer a dumb question for me?

I bought one of those eBay service manuals for my '01. What I got looks like a xeroxed book with a color xerox cover punched and bound with a metal clip. Is this the way they come, or did I rip myself off? I say ripped myself because going back and looking at the ad, it says "Dodge Viper Manual reprint..." or something like that. Of course, I assumed reprint meant...well reprint, like a book is reprinted and is still a real book.

No that's not what it looks like. It's not punched. It's a real book. Got my car last night and I was lookin' through the owners manual this morning as a matter of fact :D

sorry cop magnet but my 97 manual is properly printed and bound like a book.

but so long as it has all the detail in and you didn't pay top $ at least you have something.

You should shop the vendor for copyright though

Manuals are only $90 shipped from the Mopar site. Got mine in about 3 days after using online ordering. Real factory service manual.

Funny story: my bud spent $1,500 for the factory service manuals for his Ferrari 360. Half the time he goes to a critical part there is no info but for a note that says "this section was not completed in time for printing."

Just a note to people who seem to be confused: Service Manual is not the same as the Owner's Manual.

Good note. By the way, the owners' manuals are avaible on the Mopar site also for real cheap like $10 + shipping. I bought one when I got my car then when I was cleaning the car found the original in the pocket on the back of the seat.

Man, what a rip...I paid $55 for mine on ebay.

Actually, I don't really mind. If the binder comes apart, it may be handy to take certain pages out and use them as needed. Sometimes, with my other cars, I've xeroxed the pages I need so I can crawl under the car with them and toss them when they get all nasty.

Or, perhaps I'm just rationalizing!

Caveat emptor!

I think that it is still a very good price for a repair manual. It sounds like the one I bought a couple of years ago, a great investment if you work on it yourself. you did not get ripped.

What's the reason for averting the parts department of the local Dodge dealer?
Why would you play the old muscle-car game if you don't have to? We have a collection of vintage American cars, and the Viper being current, makes things easy.
