I am interested in installing 3.55 gears on my '92 Viper. Is the performance difference noticable enough to warrant the price. I hate having 6th gear sit idle...

Interested in hearing from anyone that changed their ratios and pros/cons.

Yes it's worth the $1K price. I had them on muy 94 and really enjoyed the extra SOTP feel the gears provided. It actually made 6th gear useable on the freeways. IMO it was a great upgrade to do and didn't affect my car in any negative way. I bought the gears through Jon B and had Unitrax (Anaheim,CA) install them. Good luck.

Oh yeah they are worth it :D No more downshifting to 5th in slow traffic, you can just keep that puppy in 6th and keep on truckin :p

Your better off with the 3.33.Your 1/4 mile won't suffer.Maybe 1 or 2(modded) guys have run 11 sec 1/4's with 3.55,it's just too hard to launch.Been there!

I don't think that it's any more difficult to launch that the 3.07s, and you always feel that you are on the meat of the torque curve, with a large improvement in 6th.

You do shift a bit more in town, and I got a couple MPG less driving around, and you have to really baby the car in the differential gears break-in period, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Even though you don't a single HP, the improvement in the feel of the car's power is tangable.

Some people who later add lots of power (as in a supercharger) will switch back to a 3.07 stock gear set, because with 600HP+ it does become hard to get traction in lower gears, and for drag racers you have to shift to 5th gear to get through the 1/4 mile.

If you are unable to use 6th now, the 3.55 will fix that.
I did it for that reason. It's better in slow traffic too.
Feels faster off the line but you will probably need to get new tires to get a little extra traction. I got the Kuhmo 700 stickys. Use Unitrax gears.
Do it, you'll like it.

I had 3.73s in my '94, and they were a blast around town. I can get you an entire 3.55 differential delivered to your door for $1495.00 let me know.
