I don't think that it's any more difficult to launch that the 3.07s, and you always feel that you are on the meat of the torque curve, with a large improvement in 6th.
You do shift a bit more in town, and I got a couple MPG less driving around, and you have to really baby the car in the differential gears break-in period, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Even though you don't a single HP, the improvement in the feel of the car's power is tangable.
Some people who later add lots of power (as in a supercharger) will switch back to a 3.07 stock gear set, because with 600HP+ it does become hard to get traction in lower gears, and for drag racers you have to shift to 5th gear to get through the 1/4 mile.
