Are Viper guys true MOPAR fans or just a specialized sect?

MOPAR stands for " Move Over People Are Racing !!!"........lol ! :2tu:

I have restored numerous Chrysler products including two Superbirds. I always preferred the 1960-1970s Chrysler products to most others. I also like Fords and Ford products are my daily cars. I've had Ford trucks for 20 years. I've never been interested in what GM offers.

But...what is a Mopar? The word comes from the 1930s...shortened from MOtoring PARts...Chrysler's parts division. "Mopar" became slang for any Chrysler product...although I don't understand why. We don't call Fords "Motorcrafts".

I once took my 1972 Scamp to a cruise night where the featured cars were Mopars. I was told to park away from the Mopars. They thought"Mopar" was a term for musclecars. I explained that any Chrysler, Dodge or Plymouth is a Mopar.

I don't think there is a single MOPAR product that I liked before the Viper...always been a ""Ford-leaning" musclecar guy, with an affectation for anything fast and preferably convertible. In high school the MOPARs that were around were big, slow and the front suspensions were a "toed out". Just never did like them much at all......

The Viper was cool from the first time I saw it... although for a long time I thought it was a silly car with no top and no windows...till I realized it was a modern-day version of the AC Cobra!!! I appreciate the uniqueness/rawness of the Viper and hope that I always own one. As for other MOPARs... no thanks, I'll keep my 1969 Mach 1 and 1966 Lincoln Continental convertible.

Have had a lot of different cars, Fords, Lincolns, Cadillacs and British-Leyland (don't ask).......

The other Mopar forums I am a member of are very open to help
all types of mopar guys from the hands off millionaires to the back
yard grease monkey. I am hoping I will find the same type of
people and help here. So far the members and help have been
great!

I gotta say I never really considered this forum a "mopar-
oriented" board persay, especially since Dodge stopped the
finacial support, but the one thing it is in spades is a Viper
forum. You might not get much help with the Cuda, but
you will get help with the Viper - all you gotta do is ask...

I was always more of a Bowtie Guy but the Viper converted me. Now I regret not owning any vintage Mopar muscle back in the 70's although my friends had some great Mopars back then .
