Now that my Viper is away for the winter, I realize that I am still known as the Viper guy wherever I go. I will pull into the local gas station to buy gas for my Neon, as I walk out I hear one guy go to the other thats the Viper guy. The same goes when I go to the liquor store, someone will always say I guess the Viper is away for the winter huh? These are places that I only go to once in a while. It happens everywhere. It's not such a bad thing, I kinda like having a little notoriety. I guess when we leave places with our cars people must check out whos car it is I guess. I suppose I do it as well when a Ferrari pulls in as well. Let me know if you have the Viper guy phenomenon where you live!!! PROWLER...96 GTS...

Prowler -- I live on the military base here at Fort Hood and must pass through the vehicle checks several times per day. Most of the soldiers know a Colonel owns the Prowler and Viper so I usually get through quickly -- except when they want a "car show" and pull me over for the body cavity search (luckily for the car and not the driver).

Heck yea, at the gym I'm known as Viper Joe. I'm a bit shy so I found myself a little sensitive to the moniker. But now, it's like, yea I'm Viper Joe - pretty cool ehh!

And yes, I too am known at the local gas stations or wherever I might have taken the Viper, even if I'm in the company Taurus. Feels special doesn't it?

I drive on Ft. Rucker once in a while for work with the Viper, get a lot of comments like, "nice ride", "want to trade". Most ask, "how does a Warrant Officer afford a car like this?" I am the only one that drives one regularly around here.

There are quite a few Vipers around here. Lots of exotics in general but that still doesn't take away from the attention that the Viper gets.

Congrats. Sounds like you are living the fun life. What model Blackhawk are you flying - transport, c+c, electronic warfare, etc?

Here in the Tidewater area of VA one can go four or five months without seeing another Viper. Thus, instant celebrity status. No fun when the attention is from "rice boys," though. That subject's been beaten to death, so 'nuff said.

I did 16 years active duty with the Navy (split service, still a reserve officer). I often got comments at the base exchanges from junior enlisted folks to the tune of "I didn't think an O-4 could afford those cars." Hard to explain all the Mopar muscle car hustles (buy/sell/trade) I did over the years got me into Vipers in 1996...

Yeah, I'm "Viper George" locally. When I was partnered on one Viper with a friend I was "half-Viper George" or "one and a half Viper George."

To my fellow military bubbas on the board, remember "Speed is Life!"

Not many Vipers at all in my area, so I'd have to say yes. I got my snake out last weekend for a short cruise just to get the battery charged and the fluids moving, and while I was gassing her up at a station nearby a guy pulled up to the adjacent pump and soon walked around for a look. He couldn't have been more than 2 feet from me, but his eyes were completely transfixed on the car and he didn't say a word. After staring at the car for a good 20 seconds, he slowly shook his head and said softly, "It doesn't get any better than that." Whereupon he turned and walked back around to his side of the pump! Vipers are amazing!

I'm known as the Viper guy in my town - especially by the younger set. Most of my son's friends know about my cars, especially the '96 GTS. Since I own 3 of them I can keep them guessing by driving a different one each time.

Interesting observation: we took the '96 and the Final Edition down town one night and parked them side by side. The kids flocked around the '96 (wing, splitter, loud exhaust) and totally ignored the FE. I think most people aren't aware of the Final Edition and its significance.

Thought this was a great topic.

Yep. Viper guy to my neighbors and, incidently, my family. Although I have only had the car 6 months, I drive it every day and every where so that's contributed to the growing neighborhood legend.

The few, the proud, the Viper guys (and gals).

I am known as the Harley-Guy since, I own the local Harley-Davidson dealership. However, since I got my Final Edition GTS I have become known as the Viper-Dude. It also helps since I built a 40-k custom viper bike to match my car. the bike is proudly displayed in the showroom window, for the world to see.

Merry Christmas everybody!!

I made the front page of the local paper when I got my black '93 RT. I bought the first two Vipers my local dealer sold and have another on order. When I fill up at the local gas stations, locals say "Man, nice car. When are you going to get finished building the freeway through town?"

I drive my 9 year old daughter to school in the Viper. Every kid in school knows her as the Viper-Girl and me as the Viper-Dad.

Oh, and all the moms know me too

I live in S.E. Iowa in a small town of 8000 people. You can't believe the responses I get. Just picture the three old guys sitting in front of the barber shop and that about sums it up! I have had my hard top on most of the time so people can't see who's in the car. When I stop to get gas they expect a movie star to get out. I am fairly new to town so most people don't know me. I'm not sure what they call me yet, but I guarantee you I have some sort of name.

Yep, I can't believe the attention the Viper gets at the Gas pumps. Seems everyone wants to talk to you. Just this past weekend, I had a teenager and his friends approch me and ask if they could take some pictures of my car. I know he took a whole roll of film with a disposable camera. He was taking a picture of the cockpit though the driver window glass when I said he could open the door and get some better pictures. He was thrilled....

I don't really know if I am famous or not but everytime I pull my Viper out of the garage people point at me with a finger not usually designated for pointing.

Does that count?
