I went to the 1/4 mile track a few years ago when my car was stock. I had trouble launching (damn you wheel hop), and produced less than stellar results. Actually, I thought my car was anemic considering my poor trap speed. The track is almost at sea level, but weather was at the all too common Houston hot and humid.

Best time of 6 runs (DA was 2500):

R/T ... .072
60' ... 2.02
330 ... 5.57
1/8 ... 8.27
MPH... 91.4
1000 ... 10.56
1/4 ... 12.47
MPH ... 117.8

Added American Racing Headers (1 3/4" primary, no cats, stock muffs w/ crossover) along with an A&C Tune and Woodhouse mounts last year. So, I went back to the drag strip to redeem myself. Needless to say, E.T. was significantly better by 0.6 secs, even on this hot and humid June (although DA was a tick better)

Best time of 4 runs (DA was 2300):

R/T ... .310
60' ... 2.045
330 ... 5.281
1/8 ... 7.836
MPH... 96.92
1000 ... 9.997
1/4 ... 11.81
MPH ... 123.36

As if that wasn't enough, I swapped out my rears in favor of my shorter and lighter road coarse wheels (SRRs) and stickier rubber (V700s Kuhmo). I thought the stiff side wall would probably hurt more than help, but the warmed up sticky rubber more than made up for the difference considering that I improved my ET by another 0.3 seconds.

Best of two runs:

R/T ... .145
60' ... 1.918
330 ... 5.025
1/8 ... 7.557
MPH... 98.84
1000 ... 9.708
1/4 ... 11.511
MPH ... 125.35

I wanted to ensure that the above wasn't a fluke, so I hot-lapped it and went back for a 11.55 at 125.0 before calling it a day. Overall, I was content with my almost 1 second improvement!!

My brother accompanied me with his SRT10 Ram. Its all stock, except for a K&N hot air intake. His best run of the night was a 13.3

That's a ten second car in better DA' the weather here right now in June is brutal. Congrats on running decent numbers in the heat. Keep working on your 60's that's were most of your et improvement will come from. A tenth quicker to 60' is usually worth .2 on the big end.

Thanks guys. I do believe I could have improved it with a few more runs. However, on my 11.51 run, I was awarded a warning since I was only .02 seconds from being kicked out. I was told to keep it about 11.50, or come back with 6 pt on my vert, or a 4pt and a hard top. I guess I will have to wait for cooler weather and a private rental before I whip the slicks and aim for a 10sec run.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. It was great! Good to see some real world runs on the Viper and truck.

Nice runs and good video quality too!

What in the hell was that GMC packin under the hood? That thing took off until it looked like something went wrong for him.
