Well, I replaced the injector connectors on my car and it did nothing for my miss with the a/c on. It is also missing with the lights on. Both will miss 50% of the time and when it does, its running on half the cylinders. This is above 3000 rpm part or full throttle. Obviously some kind of problem when there is a voltage draw...sometimes :( I never have figured out about the Optima and its ??removable?? top posts ?? My battery is only 12-14 months old but I am willing to try another one. FYI, I think the new connectors helped my "normal everyday, daylight, no a/c miss" are we having fun yet

Tony,

I just installed a red top Optima battery. All I had to do was grind down the top negative post (about half way) and it fit in the battery tray with no problem. The top positive terminal doesn't touch because the frame bends around it. Everything is fine at this point.

My car is a 2000 RT/10. I have no idea if that makes a difference or not.

After many searches on this board came to the conclusion that a red Optima battery would *hopefully* work/fit. Just to make sure it fit, brought the old battery with to the store, and they matched in size perfectly. Didn't have to grind anything, just put it in. This is on a '94.

It's dry, nothing will leak out. I did this more than a few months ago, so it's tough to remember all the goodies. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

This is not a battery problem, I would guess the Alt. is getting weak and getting ready to die, what is the gauge showing?

From Optima's website:

- It'll last up to 2 times longer than other batteries.

- It can sit unused 3 times longer than other batteries.

- It is over 15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries.

- It's nonspillable and can mount in almost any position.

- It provides constant performance quality keeping your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.

- It provides more power in the inital 1, 3, 5, and 10 seconds of the vehicle starting process than comparably rated conventional lead acid batteries.

tnx. Sorry Gary..as soon as I posted the question I thought "how lazy not to search for the info" Sometimes I forget there are other things on the web :) That said, I looked at the web site and they do not show a battery for a Viper. What part # is everyone using ? I am ASS U MING there are different sizes.

As far as I know, there are only different color batteries (each with different capacity/size characteristics). There is also only one physical size for a given color. So, if you get a red top battery, it will fit.

1Tony1,

I went with the gold battery from Discount Auto, $55.00, I posted some time ago when you were having problems with the car breaking up with the AC, etc on, that I had a similar problem. Sean Roe advised that a weak battery could put a draw on the already weak ignition system. Sean said he uses local parts stores batteries as well, i wouldn't spend the money for the race batteries, for a street car they don't usually hold up as well.

Hey King, Scott also reminded me of your problems. I had forgotten. I will do that first. Even though my battery is not real old, I think I could use a better one. My car can't sit a week without losing the charge.

Tony, your probably right about your harness. Have you checked to see if your battery has a draw on it too?
