While I have heard good things about Optima batteries....they do not fit in every Viper. I have used Douglas batteries for years. They are maintainance free, have a free repleacement warranty, are priced right, and fit a Viper.

Autozone stocks batteries that fit in Vipers, and they work fine. I believe mine is a Duralast. I tried the Optima and it didn't fit.

Joe,

Two other thoughts:

A kill switch so when you are not using the car you completely take the pull of of your battery.

A "battery tender" so you can simply plug up your car to a wall outlet every so often when you are not using it.

I had both on my car, both very inexpensive, can save you a lot of grief.

I replaced my battery also and a lot of my problems just went away.

I had both of these mounted just inside the hood near the brake master cylinder.

Just a thought....

We are FINALIZING a battery kit for the Viper that will fit all cars!!!
Should be ready toship in about a week or two. We will offer it as a kit, ready for installation.
Here are some highlights:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Kit includes a great looking billet hold down
Battery is truly leak free (dry cell)
It packs a punch with plenty of cold cranking amps
Comes with a warranty

Sam,

A kill switch by the Master cylinder will NOT dis-connect the battery 100%.

The battery + post have 2 leads, one go to the fuse box by the MC but the other one feed the fuse box/amplifier and fuel pump in the trunk on the driver side.

Luc,

Makes sense to me. I guess I just go lucky and it caught enough of the hidden demons form killing the battery like it use to, (HMS) installed mine during the Venom upgrade. It really does not matter my beautiful car is in Viper heaven now....

Actually the location where mine was located was not very smart because you can not get to it with the hood down in an emergency, I learned that lesson the hard way too! It really needs to be accessible form the outside of the car but now you have problems with people playing with the key and it screws up the lines on the car....

Joe,

I do not think my charger ever left the charging state either....it must be those darn demons pulling at the battery...
