Been to the scales?

On the way back from Dyno Day last weekend, I had a chance to run over one of the WA DOT scales (scales were closed, but the machine was still working).
With me (at 225 lbs) in the car and a 1/2 tank of gas, I was surprised at the findings.

Total weight- (all 4 wheels on the scale) 3620 lbs
Front weight- 1760
Rear weight - 1880

Just more trivia I had not seen yet.

I think that is pretty close to what we have heard. BUt which is correct: 3640 or 3620? If it is 3620 then the weight would be about 3345 lb (w/o driver and fuel). I just guessed 50 lb for fuel.

Ya have to remember these are Washington State Scales, good only to the nearest 20 lbs or so...
What I found of interest was the balance, front to rear!!!!

I just guessed 50 lb for fuel.

Gasoline weighs 5.6 pounds per gallon. The SRT has an 18.5 gallon capacity. So, let's assume the gauge is perfectly accurate (it ain't):

In Paul's case, his fuel weighed 51.8 pounds
In Keith's, his fuel weighed 64.75 pounds

Using the information provided, this means Paul's car weighs 3,343 and Keith's weighs 3,320. Geez, why am I on this thread?

I think your fuel S.G. is a bit on the light side. Must be a lot of ethanol in your fuel. 6.1#/gal is much closer. Multiply water (8.3 #/gal) times around 0.72-0.74 and you're there.

Darn, my guess for Paul's fuel weight was 1.8 lb less than your calculation. We'll, back to school.

Thankfully, I have no training in fuel weights. I just searched for it and found what seemed reasonable here:

Gallon of water: 8.3 pounds
Gallon of liquid propane: 4.2 pounds
Gallon of gasoline: 5.6 pounds
Gallon of diesel fuel: 6.8 pounds

Agree with the basketball game. I lived in Lawrence for 4 years as a child. My dad is an alumni of KU so I know who he was rooting for.
