Has anybody found a cam that makes good power for road racing a Gen 2 car?? The engine has ported and polished heads with 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves and have been milled a bit, H beam rods and 0 deck Ross forged pistons.

There are a number of qualified engine oriented vendors that can help you. The year of the GEN 2 matters since the stock CAM varies by year. The 708 CAM is highly respected.

We offer a very nice torquey cam for all around excellent power with no loss on low end drivability or tuning ability. Incredible sound.

When combined with a Gen-4 Conversion or heads/manifold flowing silimar numbers [w/Intake/Exhaust of course], it will make around 700 crank horsepower. Decently ported Gen-2 heads & manifold should net in the 600 crank range. SCT tuning required, though we can supply base maps [and even better base maps will be coming in Spring based off a Gen-2 build specifically]

ASSUMING you have a stock gen 2 intake manifold that wants to go out of resonance at about 5750 RPM like everyone else's and given your compression ratio does not exceed 10.2 to one.

If I had a gen two motor and wanted to mimic and replace the 708 but with more rotational force everywhere I would use comp cams offshore magnum marine racing profiles 3051/3052. It was design for sustained HIGH RPM endurance. Its faster acting than stock yet produces higher cylinder pressures and more area under the entire RPM band than a 708. The cam has razor sharp throttle response at all RPMS and pulls like a beast exiting a corner but holds on as long as your intake manifold will.

Comp Cams Dodge Viper Camshaft Dual pattern with 3051/3052 Magnum Marine lobes:
Duration at .006” lift intake = 274 deg
Duration at .006” lift exhaust = 284 deg
Duration at .050” intake = 220 deg
Duration at .050” exhaust = 230 deg

Duration at .200" intake =134 deg
Duration at .200" exhaust =142 deg
Intake Center line = 117 deg
Angle between lobes = 114 deg
Intake lift at lobe = .320
Exhaust lift at lobe= .320
Intake closing event is 74 deg after bottom dead center.
