Best quarter mile time expected

im wondering what the best quater mile time has been on a stock gen 2 rt10?

or on a gen 2 rt10, the mods being exhaust and tubes/filters?

anyone know?

The numbers quoted by Craig aint the Popular Mechanics test...The PM test was a blue/white GTS that did 11.9 @ 119mph...I think that 11.7 @ 120 may have been the Evan Smith run....

Yeah, that was Evan Smith in GM High Tech Performance magazine, with a stock 2000 R/T10 Viper.

More realistically, I'll be shooting for closer to 12.2@118MPH in the 1/4 mile, which is more likey for us mere human drivers.

I have to disagree this test was done with a 2000 rt/10. Which btw holds the record for a gen 2 viper in any publication.

The thing is drivers like Evan are worth another 3 or 4 tenths. So one may turn a 12.2 in their car and he could get an 11.8 or even lower.

Read my reply again and you will see that there is no disagreement between which car ran which time...Its the magazines that are in question....We know it was an RT/10 that Evan ran in and did the 11.7 @ 120....The PM test was a GTS...I have that mag...One of the posters thought it was the PM mag that did that awesome time...
