Good to hear a nice story! However, are you sure it was a sweet 16 celebration? My experience with working with lots of Hispanics is that the 15th one is the big day. Called Quincenaeria or something like that.

If you ever want a lawsuit against a town for profiling, take a few laps of Rt 5 or 68 in Wallingford. I give it 10 minutes or less before they spot you. Though I would say it would be as much or more for driving the Viper than anything else that got you pulled over.... they tend to be ticket nazis in this town, which is why I do all of my shopping elsewhere... but it would certainly provide you grounds for the case. Mix in the fact that the town has had some racial tensions within the past year over an extra paid day off for MLK Day and some *** guy who wanted to speak at the library.... well, if your lawyer were allowed to mention it I'm sure the jury would eat it up.
Wallingford stays away from me b/c they harassed me in 2004 and I sued them. We just had the trial in October 07, they settled. And the Judge warned the detective that harassed me that she felt he got off lucky and she never wanted him back in front of her for the same type of thing. They know me well in Wallingford and dont dare to bother me.

Oh right, I remember hearing about that *** rally. I forgot that *** scumbag's name but I do agree Wallingford is up there when it comes to profiling. Cheshire is not known for its racial profiling but I will say that Keith will absolutely get pulled over if he drove down Rte. 10 past the Cheshire police station. Why? Not because of race but because the police feel the need to pull over anybody driving an exotic in this town and holding a long conversation about the car and how someone's sisters brother owns a vette, etc.

Our finest pulled me over on a side street because they "heard my exhaust from a mile away" and didn't bother clocking me. Just pulled me over and started bs'ing. Problem is that happens all of the time. I can tell you about each police officer we have here in town as well as any side business they have going on. I have most of their business cards. Too much info for me.

So Keith...considering my taxes here are already high and Cheshire really can't afford a lawsuit, STAY AWAY!!! :D Seriously, looking forward to some cruising come spring.
When I was breaking in my new motor I came thru Cheshire every night on rt 10, up to 84, and then back onto 10 to Hamden. I saw several cops sitting on the side of 10, and they saw me they never followed or stopped me. If I didnt know better, I would say that:

1. Word of my suing Wallingford for harassment may have resulted in some type of memo for cops in surrounding towns; a memo warning them of what will happen if they stop me for no reason, or

2. There may be some kind of notation on my info when they run my license plate stating that if they pull me over for no good reason they will probably be sued, and that I have a very good attorney.:D

I say this b/c I never get followed or pulled over in any of the surrounding towns...only in Hartford. And I drive my Viper on almost every day we have nice weather. Personally, I dont worry about it nor do I avoid any town(s) for fear of being profiled or stopped. We have the right to go anywhere we want anytime we want to in this country...a right I exercise to the fullest.

Keith--that is a GREAT story (and answered my previous question as to if you could get your Viper out and about!). YOU yourself are such an inspirational man, you SEE the good in things, you and your wife are the most down-to-earth couple we have met thru the Viper Club. I'm GLAD that you felt good about this traffic stop...you saw it for what it really was. KUDOS to you!!! ~juli
Thank you very much, my wife and I think the world of you guys as well.

You are absolutely correct...it was his daughters 15th birthday. I tell ya, dancing salsa for two straight hours is a cardiovascular workout :knockedout:I dont care to experience again any time soon!

I seriously doubt Cheshire has a file on you. That would require us to upgrade from our cave-drawing records and telegraph communications to somewhat modern paper file and radio technology. :D They seem reasonable here when it comes to sports cars...I mean if you're out on Rte 10 looking for trouble, you will get it. Otherwise, they don't harrass us. Sorry to hear about situation in Wallingford but I'm glad you were vindicated.

I've actually had the exact same thing happen when cruising with my friends in their Mustangs. It's always a cool situation (I think). Quite a few times, the cops had Mustangs that were worked on at the same shops.

I had TWO cops tell me to take my car out on the interstate they were patrolling and "top it out"

Not to make this a thread about race and sh*t, but I grew up in Mississippi. I played football, fished, hunted, and raced cars w/ white friends and black friends all my life. Never was race a problem or even came up. We just had fun. Sounds unrealistic? Bull. Thats how we lived where I grew up. If you could play ball, if u could friggin fish, if you could friggin drive and were a good person, people liked and respected you, end of conversation. I went to a predominantly white college in Mississippi (Mississippi State University!! Winners of the Libery Bowl 07!!) and I was invited to just as many white frat parties as black frat parties...there was never a problem.

I have run into more assh*les than racist...an assh*le will use any excuse to be an assh*le.

My experience has been there are good people like us in this forum...and then there are people we should f*cking bomb (assh*les) and race has very little to do with it...its just a convenient excuse for people who are assh*les to begin with.

****** and Stalin were two of the biggest assh*les of all time...and they killed more white people in 30 yrs as blacks died in slavery in 400 yrs. My point is that bullsh*t is bullsh*t...and no one has a designated role as a victim or perpetrator....

There are fu*ked up people and there are good people. lets focus on the good people and just have fun being friends and driving our cars.

Enough has been said in this thread about all this....time to close this thread and lets talk about when the f*ck Sean Roe will release his mystical blower:D, lets talk about motons, CPE's new Twin Turbo and how we will kick the snot out of the new ZR1.

I appreciate all u guys chiming in on this. But its time close this thread to move on to car stuff.:headbang:

As an Ohio cop I don't need probable cause to stop a car, just reasonable articulative suspicion. There is a big difference. PC means suspicion that a crime has or is about to occur to a normal citizen. Reasonable suspicion means belief that a crime has or is about to occur to a police officer (given their knowledge of the situation, environment and training).

Example: A dead quiet night, nothing moving on the street but the occasional tumbleweed. A call goes out for a robbery against a person. The suspect fled in an unknown type/color of car. I pass a car leaving the area right with the timing being about right to be the possible suspect. I flip on him and light him up to see what happens. No traffic reason for the stop, just leaving the area. The car pulls over and the suspect bails out on foot. This is a real example and it happened to me...(we caught the robber btw) So that is an example of reasonable suspicion vs. p.c. A normal citizen, not knowing the situation or having the training of an officer would not find that car be-boppin legally down the street suspicious...but given my inside knowledge of the recent situation it was very suspicious to me.

Also, if I told someone to do a burnout and they did it. Then it came out that I told them to, I would be in a lot more trouble than they would and any possible ticket would be squashed in court.

I gotta say, most of us (police officers) in my city love bad ass cars. We have a local dealership that sells Corvettes and other exotics and the owner was cruising around in a Saleen S7. You can bet if I saw that going around the block twice in a known drug area I would have stopped it.

***Just a joke here*** but it is pretty cool to run a plate on a stop and have it come back to a Lamborgini or Ferrari...seems like a lot of other units tend to swing by to "check on ya".

And as far as racial profiling goes. I don't do it. I profile situations and peoples behavior, especially when they realize I am watching them. It is ******* midnight shift even if I wanted to racially profile drivers...hell it is hard enough to get an exact color on a car with some of the weird tricks the yellow or dirty white streetlights play with my eyes.

hmmmm...I thought I was done w/ this thread...but circling a block does not constitute probable cause. A jury would nail you for that, I have personal experience guaranteeing that result. If u are a car guy you get a pass from me...but if not and if u harass me...I would spend north of $100,000 to sue you and nail you.
Black people, Spanish people live in these areas and drive thru and have relatives and friends that drive thru these areas all the time. We are tired of the profiling bullsh*t. You dont want your mother pulled over just because she circles your block do you? Well, neither do we.

I didnt mind my stop b/c the cops were cool and were car guys...but my brain is defective in that car guy stuff over rides the b*ll**** stop. Being pulled over by cops borders humiliation...and if u think u have a right to do that simply b/c of where I am driving...u r a lawsuit waiting to happen and u have no right to have a badge.

I almost agree with the Ohio cop. In my municipality given the circumstances...high drug area, circling the block a couple of times, That wouldn't quite give me reasonable suspicion to stop you and certainly doesn't rise to the level of PC...but honestly the traffic code is so voluminous that I could probably find something to pull you over for as a pretext for stopping you to check on possible drug activity. I know you won some lawsuit about harassment, but I wouldn't say that you've got some kind of protective halo around you. Lawsuits happen all the time, cost of doing business.

Glad you didn't have a bad experience with them though. Good to hear!
