i know-it was like the freaking twilight zone today at the dealer--like i was the only one who thought this was not normal--doug stated it best when he said-cant be normal as it would not pass emissions!--Ben

No doubt Doug will be able to figure it out in no time. If it gets the best of you guys, here is a problem I had a couple years ago: A bad batch of gas that had DIESEL in it. Same thing: Started up with a puff of black smoke which disappeared shortly thereafter. Left black spots too. The dealer couldn't figure it out when it was in, but then called me the next day and asked where I got my last fill up - they got more cars in that bought that same bad gas. Drained the tank, replaced the fuel filter and all was well again (this was not in the Viper thankfully).

Hopefully yours is not so strange, but figured I would throw it out there in case you still have troubles...

update-
went to dougs two days ago-what a help-he checked the plugs-looked a little off-he did a leak down-checked out at no more than 5% loss-checked everything out on the computer-seems within normal range-a little baffling-may be this cat problem i have been hearing about starting-his advice was to drive the car hard for a few hundred miles and check things again. Car may have been run too lightly its entire life causing alot of buildup. May try a plug change if problem gets no better after a few hundred miles. So i am going to quit sweating it and just drive the thing. Doug spent a good solid two hours on my car and him and his employees and wife were super nice people. You can definately tell doug loves the viper and is a master of what he does. Saw some awesome works in progress at his place and once everything gets together with my car, and i get used to driving it well, would like to get some supercharger work done. He had a brand new gts already getting the works done there and a silver srt10 almost finished that looked really hot. I would reccomend this place to anyone. Having had alot of cars and dealt with alot of dealer and private mechanics, this was a new experience. Kind of renewed my faith in the viper.-Ben

I am going on one year with the Paxton SC he installed; it is comforting to know he is close by if there are any issues. Go for his SC setup, you will not look back.
