First off I can't express enough how awsome this site or better yet the members of this site are. I've had a bunch of questions the last few weeks as I have been finishing up a rebuild of an 01 GTS and I always get a kick when I get an instant answer, debate and and clarified answer. You guys are great...thanks After 3 or 4 10 mile runs, today I drove about 35 miles and have gotten a little braver spending a little time around 4k RPM. Car seems to run great but on my return I have a lot of black sooty dust on the underside of the bumper and even on the tail panel itself. It seems to be from pass side exhaust. It is not oily.Car was off road 3 yrs and has 8700 mi. Does this indicate a problem? Thanks in advance...

Explaining Viper things to you
The back of my GTS - red w/ white stripe - has black crap on it always. Car has no issues though.

Why do you say pass side? Is that pipe - only - sooty?

Maybe drive the 8700 mile cobweb syndrome out of it?

Vrrrrrroooooooooooooommmmmmmmm........

Try resetting the PCM.

Try going to a dyno and do a few pulls logging your AFR (air to fuel) ratio. Besides getting a baseline for your setup, you'll find out if you're running too rich or lean. If you are running too rich/lean, you can certainly use a Vec or SCT tune to get the AFR where it needs to be. Even with a 'perfect' tune, I still have black stuff under the rear of the car. It's a Viper, so its a feature! :D
