Anyone have them? I have an 04 SRT-10 and my buddy keeps running his mouth about how my car will only make 400 at the wheels. So I bet him 100 bucks that my car will make minimum 440 at the wheels. Need some input what will the car make approx? I thought I can garuntee it will make between 440 and 450 for sure but do most srt-10s straight out of the factory do 440+?

I think it is about a 15% loss from the engine to the wheels. So you are looking about 425 rwhp, stock that is.

Bye bye 100 bucks...Sorry Ricky, but the best you can hope for stock, is around 425 to 435 rwhp...I heard from 13% up to 17% loss.
After your planned mods it will be a different story ...

Ricky -

You should be fine! Here are some other numbers for you that were posted with ZERO mods - not even filters:

2004 SRT-10 Ram, bone stock: 439.5 RWHP
2005 SRT-10, bone stock: 459.8 RWHP
2004 SRT-10, bone stock: 447.5 RWHP
2003 SRT-10, bone stock: 452.7 RWHP
2005 SRT-10, bone stock: 464.0 RWHP
2003 SRT-10, bone stock: 435.5 RWHP
2003 SRT-10, bone stock: 436.6 RWHP
2004 SRT-10 Ram, bone stock: 437.9 RWHP
2004 SRT-10, bone stock: 420.0 RWHP
2004 SRT-10, bone stock: 436.0 RWHP

While your "magic number" of 440 RWHP is certainly realistic, there is a chance it may end up slightly below it. However that person's suggested target of 400 is WAY off. Also note that the SRT-10 PCM is in learning mode from Day 1, so your driving habits WILL show up on the dyno. "Casual cruisers" (no wide open throttle) will dyno lower. "Drive like you stole it" will put up higher numbers on the dyno almost every time: The computer has set the car up for WOT runs and it responds accordingly on the dyno. Given one of your earlier posts about not being able to go WOT due to traction, your dyno will be interesting.

Now if you had made that bet at 430 RWHP, I think you wouldn't have any worries...

With an 11% driveline loss.... that would be an astounding 521 HP.... keep in mind that dynos do tend to deviate, additionally, historically, each and every hand assembled Viper V10, as is the case with just about every motor built by every manufacturer, has varying HP numbers. As Chris mentioned, break-in, computer "learning", and other variables always come into play.

Lately, manufacturers would rather underate their numbers versus overate, as there was a few recent issues where an overated spec created LOTS of lawsuits and plenty of irate owners.

Looking at the compilation of dyno numbers, it looks like our SRT-10's on any dyno, on any given day, based on a 11% driveline loss, are hitting 490HP and MORE! My guess is the 11% driveline loss is a bit low, more likely 12-14%?

I have an elementary questions.....
As I am patiently waiting for my delivery from UNReliable of my yellow beast.
If the computer remembers my driving habits on the initial break-in period, and I've never driven a Viper before, how should I drive it in the beginning?
Like I stole it, fast, crash and burn?
Or like I just want to be seen for the thrill of it?

The harder you drive it in the 1st 50 miles, the better your rings will seat for the life of the car.

Mine made 416 stock, but it still needs the valve recall. It makes well over 700 now, so I I'm not so worried about the recall. ;)

Tsk, tsk...

You must be registered for see images

If it makes you feel any better, the car recently dyno'ed at 456.7 RWHP with K&N's. A couple tuners and vendors wrote me afterwards and asked if I had disconnected the battery when I installed the K&N's the day before the dyno. Which I did. They then pointed out that the PCM had not had a chance to "relearn" and thus was starting from scratch. Don't forget that this car was autocrossed and driven 160+ MPH by a NASCAR driver during the first 75 miles of ownership. Talk about a proper break-in and PCM teaching for that first dyno... :2tu:

The same day I ran the lower K&N dyno, a new 2005 Silver Mamba dyno'ed at 459.8 RWHP absolutely bone stock - with 30 witnesses. He then put the K&N's on (no battery disconnect) and made 468.6 RWHP. He subscribes to the "drive it like you stole it and the entire police force is on your tail" mentality as do many folks with higher dyno numbers. Just as an FYI.
