Borla Cat Back

I installed a Borla Cat Back (S Type) on my 96 GTS. Like the sound at idle, but then the acceleration and de-cel sounds like the original stock. I'm wanting a more aggressive sound. Been told to replace the monstrous stock cat conv with high flows - but have been warned that it my just enhance the de-celeration sound that I don't like. Crapola, i've already spent $1,500 so I thought I'd reach out for any suggestions. Thanks

I'd replace the stock cat with high flows. But first, try adding a "test" pipe in place of the cats and see if you like it. Mine was too loud so I added a small Magnaflow in place of the cats to get the sound I liked. When it's time for state inspections the cats go right back in.

Off topic a little but did you get any alarms when you removed the cats?

Which borla did you go with? The 2 muffler is loud as hell and would never be confused with stock.

I did 3" Random Tech metal cats into 3" Moroso Spiral Flows, then out to my 2.5" x-pipe. Deep, throaty rumble at idle, but not objectionable. On-throttle is nice and full. At Hastings Viper Rendezvous, I had the quietest Viper out of 51 cars.
