Borla Headers ????

You'll pick up power, throttle response and torque with them versus the stock manifolds. We've done a lot of dyno pulls with the Borla headers on Vipers and have never been disappointed. They're worth getting, especially if you can get them at a deal. Drop me an e-mail if you want to see some dyno graphs.

Does anyone know how they are to install? Can they be installed by a doit yourselfer and do they just bolt on? How these compare to say bellangers?

Steve, Mike Pavloff has these on his car so you could have a look, I fitted belangers to mine and they were straightforward to fit and well made, Ron (SoCal) has belanger on his. I think belangers are better and run cooler. I used borla system, it fitted perfectly.

Did you install the Belangers yourself? If so did you need any
special tools? I'm still not sure about the check engine light
scenario on 01's so I'm still kind of on hold.

Dan Cragin and Chris did the install of my Borla headers. Apparently, it was non-trivial and the parts had to be machined slightly. However, I got a prototype set, so I would hope they've worked the kinks out by now.

I got +25 rwhp and +25 ft-lbs, with a strong 20-25 ft-lbs from 2500 rpm and above.

Steve, I fitted the complete system myself and no I didn't need any special tools. The belanger headers fitted perfectly although the engine mounts needed moved a little to adjust the motor. The most awkward bit was rerouting the LH sensor wire from behind the air con comp and the power steering pump. I also fitted the hi flo cats which need to be welded to the 90deg bend at the sills. The whole job took me about 10 evenings but I really took it slowly and methodically. I also made up a heat shield for the plastic air intake and blower motor and extended and moved a coolant pipe which ran close to the RH header. The entire job was quite enjoyable in a masochistic way! The result with the borla exhaust system is a LOT OF SOUND. No engine lights yet and I hope that won't happen since a Euro spec only has front sensors. It may be a problem on '01 US spec but the best advice I saw was to buy an auto x-ray reader and simply reset when they come on, seems to only take a couple of minutes.
