Brake squeal - HELP!

I have a set of Dillusi Wilwoods on my car that are great, BUT, no matter what I have done I can not control the brake noise. My Viper sounds like a Mack truck when approacing a stop sign. The front has the Wilwood 6 piston and the rear is a the 4 piston. Although the brakes feel great, I can not stand the noise. I have taken the pads on and off multiple times and tried 'stop squeal' on the pad backings. They still squeal. I turn to you guys for wisdom. Help!

I have Stoptech and they are very noisy. That is the price for race brakes. When the pads are cold they are very loud. You might want to change to softer street pads and the noise will go away. My friend has your setup and runs Hawk HP+, no noise there.

Jason,

You will have to try different compounds until you find a combo that doesn't sqeak *as much*. The Wilwood calipers are probably serious race units, so finding a street compound might be tough. PFC 80s or 90s and Raybestos brand pads might be a good idea. Call Dilusi and see if they can recommend anything.

Just think of the squeel as a call for people to look at your high performance brakes.
It is normal but can be annoying and/or embarassing at times.
I won't change anything on mine. I deal with the squeel because braking is much more important than a noise...at least better than the crunching noise!

Thanks for all the info guys! I now have a fistfull of items to look for tommorow when all the shops open! I too have noticed that once I get the brakes warm they do quiet down (but not silent) - how about the miserable dust they make. Anyone have input on which pads are better/worse for dust? Thanks!

I've got the Dilusi setup also and love it. I run EBC Green pads on the street (no noise and little dust) and run the EBC Yellows on the track. The Yellows take a bit of time to heat up, so I would not run them on the street.

thanks guys! I have a set on the way from the Dilusi Boys.... they suggested I do the same, so off with the dust makers until the next track event!

New 'Q' pads are on - amazing how used to INCREDIBLE braking power you get, as with these new quiet pads I would swear they are not working. (jk) - Just amazing difference, but they are quieter and time will tell if there is less dust. THANK YOU all for the info.

Bias fun.

I noticed that the fronts were really the 'dirt and noisy pads' so I put the 'race' pads back on the rear of the car and left the quiet dustless pads on the front and have noticed a marked improvement in braking bias. Really cool and now only the rears get a little dirty and squeak just a bit. .02
