How do you open the head light to change bulb and head lights? Do you take the whole head light out. Or, do you take the three wing nuts off and, open the case

REPLACING LOW OR HIGH-BEAM BULBS GTS:
1. Disenguage half turn fasteners holding access panel to inner wheel well behind the headlamp.
2. Seperate access panel from vehicle.
3. Remove wing nuts holding headlamp rear cover to back of headlamp.
4. Seperate rear cover from vehicle.
5. Disenguage wire connector from lamp socket.
6. Rotate socket counterclockwise and pull socket and bulb from back of lamp
DO NOT TOUCH BULB WITH FINGERS
Reverse process to install

Arn't service manuals great?!!

You can buy them from pepboys on the lights. HyperWhite 9005
about $35 set. You can get the hyperwhite 3157 bulbs for the round orange light by the head light at any ricer (speed) shop. About $9 each. Hope this helps

Are these bulbs an improvement over the stock as far as vision at night. The stock headlights aren't real bright and throw very far. I've driven with the high beams and never had anyone flash me from the opposite direction

Yes, much improvement. I have a ACR, no Fog lights so, I really need more light. They are probably 40% brighter. and 10% wider.

I went down to the local Autozone to look for the Hyperwhite bulbs but all they carried was a Sylvania Superwhite 9005. The guy claimed that these were even brighter then the hyperwhite bulbs. They also cost more - about $24 each.

Has anyone used or heard about these bulbs?

Thanks,
Jim

I bought a set off ebay. 9005 100 watt bulbs. 10 times better than stock $21.99 shipped. Got to love the internet.

I remember there was a real bulb frenzy on the vette forum about a year ago, lots of good info and discussions, might be worth doing a search there for bulb types etc

Will these bulbs work on 1st gen cars ?
I thought I read someplace where low beams were available, but high beams were not ? Or Visa versa ?
I see quite a few (lexus ?) cars with what appear to be blue
lights driving at night that are so bright I catch myself staring at the approaching car like a a turdy point buck !
I had illegal H4 bulbs in my bronco that were REALLY bright, but
I did not have the blue light so I guess they were not "new tech"
If they are available for gen one cars, what are the brand names
and spec numbers ? High, low and fogs ?
Thanks !
