buying installing new clutch question for 04 viper

i think my clutch is going soon since every time i step on the gas and let go i hear somthing banging back and forth around the transmission area. (checked the fluid and no metal bits) also it does not hook up until i release the clutch almost all the way. also the driveshaft has no play and diff fluid is clean also.


if anyone has some experience in clutch replacement, are these the only parts i need?

1 FIDANZA ALUMINUM FLYWHEEL with crank sensor for 04
1 centerforce clutch
1 centric slave


do i need a pilot bearing if im going to get a new slave? easy bolt on bolt off?
have a bit of mechanical background so working on a viper does not freak me out.

Check your Transmission mount for separation, not so sure it is not something simple. I would bleed the clutch and see if the pedal is better, but some just engage higher then others. If you replace the slave I would just do the pilot bearing while you are in there.

so the bearing are not included with the slave?

Something "banging back and forth" sounds like something other than a worn clutch. Check the torque on the tranny mount bolts? Is the exhaust system (esp. cats) hitting the body when the motor torques? I'd be curious to know what fixes it and if it is the clutch.

If you motor mounts are good / new, I'd follow Mark's advice.
